another front tire question

Hey Guys

when switching to rear tire on front do u run with tube or with out , & if with tube do u use dyno beads with tubes?

also if running dyno beads do u still use wheel weights or not ?

need to change front tire on my trike

spokes = tubes. Solid wheels = tubless. Beads are a personal choice. I have tubeless and weights. That's the way I got so it stayed that way. Beads = no weights.

Not necessarily so Cavie. I have had my tires balanced and then added an ounce of Dyna Beads to the front tire and two ounces to each rear since day one. It may well be a waste of money but to me it is an added level of confidence the tire is balanced and will remain so. Tires do not ware evenly so the Dyna Beads are there to compensate for that issue. To me is time and money well spent. :xszpv::xszpv:

Tubeless on alloy wheel as long as the tire is a tubeless tire. If running beads, no need for weights too.

Do what you want, but having had both Michelin Pilot Activ and Metzler Macadam rear tires mounted on front and now using a new Avon ..... you really should consider Avon's new Cora Trike Radial ..... it's a 130/70R-18 Radial designed specifically for front wheel use on a TRIKE based on either the GL1500 or GL1800 Gold Wing. It's what Trike owners have been wanting .... or rather it's a lot closer to it ... than the bias ply rear tires we've run.

3-4 ounces in each along with the weights will work better in the rear.

Oh yeah .... you would think if balanced conventionally first any remaining slight imbalance would be well under an ounce or two so that would certainly not hurt and would let it "fine tune" as the tire wears.

Normally I use Ride-On and no weights. But since I bought my trike slightly used. I have no clue what is in what.
I don't ride a lot a year but do ride every day to work.
So in 4 years only 14K has been added to the bike.
My front tire a Michelin Pilot has no weights on it and has cupped at 24K.
It will be changed soon to the Avon Trike front tire.
The rears are Goodrich TAs and do have weights.
They too will be changed out this year.
I use in my bikes and for no real good reason.
Ride On in the rear and beads in the front.
Both tires in great shape after 17K on the front and 29K on the rear.

Yup its a double dark bike.
Kendra Rear on the front.
Continental Light Truck tire on the rear.
I expect to need new tires on the bike by 40K.

Interested in knowing why you would not use RideOn in the front also??? Seems like you would want the puncture protection up front also.:Shrug:

I'm due for a new front tire this spring. Have used the MPA's rear tire mounted reversed since I bought my new trike in 06 and have been happy. Always get 25,000 miles out of them.
I've decided to try the new Avon trike tire. Will see how I like it.

I didn't say what I do, did makes any sense.:laugh:

If it ever happens that I get 3 tires at the same time. Which is what Im gunning for. Running the rears till bald<not Florida="" So="" rainy="" wet="" in="" here="" good="].

Id have to make up my mind.

I have a gallon of Ride-On car tire formula in the house. I do use the car formula in bike tires cause it does work.

And 32 oz of beads.

Ill probably go with the Ride-On.

It is a really good balancer.

Its saved my butt already more then once. nails and tacks. Even had a carpet tack in a sidewall once. A Metzner rear on the Yamaha. It sealed it up after I pulled out the tack. I tossed the tire anyway.
