1st off, let me apologize for putting my 1st post in another thread (I was having trouble registering and we finally got it straightened out, thanks Nana).

....anyway, I'm retired Air Force, married, I live in El Cajon and getting ready to go to work in El Centro for BLM. I have a very diverse background in motorcycles having started riding dirt as a kid and riding everything except trials and trikes up to now. I'm also a former MSF instructor, though that was only for a couple years as an "additional duty". My current ride is an '05 Electra Glide Standard with a few added accessories and performance mods. I'm also a "mod" on another motorycle website.

I've always been a little fascinated with trikes but never had an opportunity to own one. I like H-D's latest entries in the arena as well as the other factory builds and conversions but I think I want to start out with a VW and build it myself. Of course this will take a bit of time to get going but it'll give me time, as I'm getting some of the basic components together, to check out build plans that are out there and come up with a design of my own. I already have an idea of what I want, just gotta get it there.

Hello Martin! So happy to see you up and running! It is exciting to hear that we can be following along on your build. Can't wait to hear about it and to see pictures of the progress. Again, Welcome!

Well, like I said, it'll take me some time just to get it off the ground. But I'll document it as it goes and probably ask alot of questions from those that have already completed a build. I'm mechanically inclined and know how alot of stuff works (which comes in real handy with keeping my '64 Chevy pick-up on the road). I'm not "expert" with VW's but have a bit of experience with them over the years. I have chosen VW because they are pretty simple to work on and require minimal (though regular) maintenance to keep 'em going...this should be alot of fun!

Welcome aboard Martin64. Start asking questions there are several VW trikers on board all ready. VW are nice and reliable. Parts are still available.

Hi Dave, sorry I missed the post. I work out of town and don't have a computer there and am usually really busy on my weekends home (which I should be now but decided to taker 'er easy today)......but I'll catch up with you one of these week ends, for sure!

Thanks for the welcome katfish. I do alot of reading here when I can..getting some ideas together and maybe I'll get a few parts together as I start getting "un-busy" on the week ends....I'm really wanting to get un-busy real soon so I can start getting this project going.
