Well, my twelve day trip from Central California to the Tuscon, Az. area is over, cut short due to weather and an ill member on our ride. The trip down to Peach Springs, AZ. went well and things were looking good until the bad weather caught us. One of our riders in our group of ten became ill and had to turn back for home so, not wanting him to travel solo in the shape was in, three of us made the early return trip home with him. The man has major medical issues to deal with but he never complains and is always ready for an adventure. Anyway, we left in 28 degree weather and drove 560 miles the first day and on home the remaining 250 the next. We ran into sleet, extremely high winds, rain and cold temperatures the first day. Thanks to heated gear and rain gear we were warm and dry so the trip went well. The ill rider is home resting and all is well. Maybe we will try again next year....a little closer to spring. :0) P.S. First time with heated gear and I Love It!

The weather in Arizona can turn fast. And wind can be crazy. No matter what time of year. But any time you can get away from home is a good time. You are good friends helping a bother when needed. That's all good in my book.:good::good::good:

I love my heated gear too, but riding in wet and cold still sucks. I glad to hear that the other rider is getting better and that you guys rode back with him.

Sorry y'all had toend it early, HOPE your buddy does well and gets back to riding.
Were y'all staying at .... or have you stayed at .... the Frontier Motel?
I ask because it looked pretty decent when we were through there a few years back, if timing had been right, looked like a good overnight stop. Had a caffee too as I recall.

We actually stayed at the Grand Canyon Cavern motel a few miles further east of the Frontier Motel. It was clean and had a restaurant about a mile from the motel so maybe the Frontier would have been a better choice. It was the old style car motel that I remember staying in when I would travel Rt. 66 with my parents on our way back to visit family in Arkansas in the 1950's. Rt. 66 was really torn up near Barstow, Ca. but was not to bad most of the ride. Fun time in Oatman, Az. seeing all the wild burros walking around the streets like they owned it....maybe they did. Fun time and I hope to go again an finish the trip.

Hard to believe that years ago semis drove those curves near Oatman. It was difficult enough on a 2 wheeler!

Sorry to hear of your need to return home because of illness and weather. I guess I've been lucky out of many road trips all has went well. We did hit cold weather on a ride back from the Dragon. We layered up and cranked up the headed handgrips and all was well. I hope your friend gets well soon.

Thanks Bill. Yes, my friend is doing quite well now and I am sure he is looking forward to another southwest ride next year. He has completed 7 of them so far and he is always ready to go on another "adventure". :clapping:
