The wife said the dealer called and said my trike was finished and ready to go.I had told my buddy that we could take his wifes sporty up on my trailer( hes 6'4" and wont ride it) then bring mine back.So we get there go into service and they finally get my paper work and noticed it said nothing about checking the trans oil or adjusting the parking brake. The tech who worked on it came out and got on the service writer about putting a small note on the top of the invoice instead of creating an event so he told me to hang tight.

After about 15 minutes he comes out and said that it had to stay there because he checked the primary from when they put dye in the trans and the primary had dye in it.So he had to drain and measure both oils then call Harley and they would send a slinger kit.Now I know this tech personally and he is a straight up dude,it wasnt his fault that the service writer failed to write it up correctly.

So at this point I got the GM and told him that this crud was unexceptable and that they just cost me a 70 mile round trip for nothing, and now the trike will have to set for another week waiting on parts. The oil sending unit was faulty instead of the temp sensor,so i said this oil sending unit has to be the same for every touring model and more than likely over several years and you guys cant stock one.He said that he would get to the bottom of what is going on and that they would deliver the bike to me when its finished and he would see about getting my parts overnight shipped.

So another week with out the trike, the wife and I had to cancel two rides last weekend, one was a 9/11 memorial ride.He seemed sincere so all i can do is wait and see if he is a man of his word,:censored:.

Sorry to hear about this, wow, no wonder Harley is hurting in sales, can't even build a good bike anymore, maybe it is all the china or japan junk on it, who knows anymore where they get parts, wonder if taiwan has been making parts for harley. Been to a few dealers and they have so many 2018's on the floor, 2 and 3 wheel and 2019's are out with around a $2,000 more increase in price to 2018 but the dealers won't discount the 2018's to get rid of them especially the 3 wheeler's, everyone says 3 wheel trikes are popular so I guess that is why they won't bargain.

Not to pile on .....But after my fiasco with my 17 T/G M8......That is the reason i am driving a Slingshot.....And why i will never have a Harley or any thing related with them...

And the T-shirts that i got with the purchase of 4 new Harleys over the years from dealers and or friends will never be worn by me, but i will and have used them for oil rags.........

Like our maggi valley trip, even though the water pump is a issue, at least make sure all dealers have at least one on hand . So much for the loyalty , as they ruined my vacation. Honda is sounding better than ever .

I'm sorry your having trouble again. I like my HD & must be 1 lucky guy (for once).

I got to give my honest opinion here, I think 1/2 you all's biggest problem is bad HD dealerships.:gah:

When sensors are faulty, they give specific trouble codes & I don't see how you miss that.

Hopefully, the dealer will make it right. Jack & my M8 motors must have rolled off the line at the right time.

I need to quit posting like this or I will curse myself.

As far as sales of HD's, the dealers around here can not keep the Freewheeler's in stock.

The dealer could comp him with a gift card, that would be IMO a good will gesture

If my Freewheeler ran any better I would trade it NOT:p

I spoke to a dealer yesterday (CA) re a new Freewheeler, here is his comment:

”We did NOT order ANY Freewheeler this year as we cannot keep the Tri’s in stock,

they sell before they arrive/or same day, and naturally MORE PROFITABLE”.

Interesting comment, BUT true!

Here in California all HD trikes are fairly scarce, both new/used.

Both Wife/I have 2010 HD trikes & LOVE them......at current prices we’ll KEEP THEM!

I bought my Freewheeler at Quaid HD in Loma Linda, CA. Brandon Quaid is a great guy my son introduced me to & we got to hang out a few days at a car show & concert my son put on.

I don't think consumers (US) realize the power they have. If anyone is treated poorly at a HD dealership,

it's rather simple, don't go back & tell the general manager why your leaving.

If you feel it was a one time error, give them a chance to make it right.

They can not give poor customer service to everyone that walks in & stay in business.

I am in a great situation in my location, having 5 HD dealerships within 35 miles of my house.

I interviewed them all & picked 1 for any service I need & have given 1 other some accessory business, due to very good deals they offered. Between the 2, I'm well taken care of. Both offer 10% off to Vets/1st. responders for parts & service. 1 offers $39.99 oil & filter changes on Sundays & does a ton of them. That's 1 of many things good dealers do.

The oil change is a loss leader for them, but it gets customers in the door & builds relationships.

But I feel I have a responsibility as a consumer to tell them what they do right, as well as what they do wrong.

During my conversation with him i told him that this was my 3rd HD from this dealer and that i had sent many people to buy there because of good trade in values.I also said that the wife and i are thinking about getting a new trike in 2020 and that i can get it at any dealership,i work 7 miles from a dealership, didn't tell him they just don't give you a good price for your trade.Said and maybe this doesn't hold any water with you,he claimed that it does.So all i can do is wait and see how it goes from here, bummer is its gonna be another nice weekend without the trike.

When i get the survey to fill out im gonna call the GM and ask him,so if you were in my shoes how would you fill this out.

After the second survey that i checked the box that asked from one to ten with one being not likely' How likely will you buy a Harley and I checked #1 with an...X

The Email surveys from Harley stop coming...Except a one question survey asking why. And no other feed back from them....At least thats what happen to me....

Bob, IMO HD needs to send out MORE surveys and pay attention to what they are saying

The MOCO is way out of touch with their core now

I know they are trying for a younger crowd but it aint working;)

Jack i agree.....But for me i really don't care..Harley could go out of business , Move to Europe for all i care.. , Or even keep on tweaking President Trump over tariffs...

To paraphrase Chief Joseph; From where the sun now stands , I will own no more Harleys for ever.....

2010 Triglide 62,000 miles. Three front tires, compensator, one running light bulb, one tail light bulb and general fluid changes. Love my Triglide !!!:clapping:

Survey

Obviously the MoCo does not like NEGATIVE responses - I tell it like it is..... haven’t gotten one of their SURVEYS for a couple of years now (used to receive one after EACH service)!

WAKE UP MoCo!

:gah:

2019 M8 is appealing but the threat of a black flag....

I have a 2014 TG that I like and have modified the ride with DK Custom stuff, but I've always disliked the 103 even though I spunked it up with headers, de-cat-ed it, and added a tuner. The new 114 is just such a better engine that I talked to my dealer about trading. But once he told me that the MOCO has gotten tougher on the warranty and that the addition of a trailer hitch would void the warranty, I have had to walk away. The voiding of the warranty is such an negative. Too bad the MOCO leadership can't make it a POSITIVE by adding some things to make a TOW PACKAGE that would be an upgrade. Kind of like what the car companies do. The price increase on the new TG is also a bitter pill to swallow. Guess when you can't meet the Wall Street numbers you do stuff like big price increases to maintain profitability. The local Indian dealer has a Road Smith kit on a brand new Road Master in stock and it has a hitch. I think I might go talk to him.

We have a 2011 Tri, it's never seen the inside of an H-D service dept except for the rear brake switch recall. I guess I'm more fortunate than some, never have had issues of any consequence. We have 45K miles on her now. Being a professional mechanic, I can do all my own work, and not have the problems some of y'all have with crappy dealers.

I'm on pretty good terms with the parts mgr, when I go in for parts I look up what I need at home, and go in with a list of part numbers.

I too am surprised at how lame the dealers' parts inventory is. But hey, they have plenty of motorclothes...

Use to get surveys all the time when I bought a bike or had service work done (which wasn't often, I do my own). Anyway, found out that the dealership was completing the surveys and and sending them back. Only found this out because an audit firm was following up on surveys and such. When I told them I didn't know what they were talking about she said I would receive another one in the mail. The Service Mgr called and wanted to visit with me about the service surveys I NEVER received.

The visit was short and sweet. Questioned him why they were receiving MY surveys in the first place and why they were filling them out. Said business was tough and if Corp got a bad survey back from a customer it could/would effect their bike allocation numbers. ???? Still didn't get an answer I accepted.
