Almost new to trikes

Hello all.
Well I don't have a trike yet but am OHHH so close to making the order a done deal. Probably this week.
I've been riding 2 wheels for around 30 years not counting the dirt bike stuff at the younger ages.
And I don't really have any reason that I need a trike other than I like toy's .
I've been riding harleys for the last 20 years and plan to keep my 2 wheel Roadking and buschtec trailer along with getting a trike.
And to everyones disbeilief I am going with a Goldwing trike!! I for some reason like the Goldwing trike a bit more than the Harley.. not making friends with that I'm sure
I live in Oregon and I think I am going to order the trike from a dealer in SC and fly over and ride it home. Maybe not the smartest thing I have done. But what the heck.
Anyway,, glad I found this forum.....

Welcome!!!! And wait till you find how much fun this newest toy is going to be! You will soon be avidly trikin', and talkin' on here all about it! Be sure to post pictures and share your adventures.

FYI Take it for a few spins around the parking lot block and around town . That new toy is going to be a real hand full for a while. Some people take to it rather quickly . You with so much 2 wheel experience may find it harder to adapt. Would not want to hear you put it in a ditch on the way home. What KIt what year what color. I am a Goldwing triker as are many on here.

I hear you all on taking it easy,, and it will be a differant beast. I did take a friends GW with a lehman kit for a spin up to highway speed and hit some twisties that I have riden hundreds of times. I hit them at a speed that I know I would have been dragging the boards on the Harley. I certainly had an excelerated heart rate but felt ok on it. And my wife didn't say a word when I drifted a tad .
I figure I would fly back and take the first day of riding back on the 2700 mile trip EASY !!
All of my bikes up until the Harley I now have, have been black. On this Harley I went back in time and did Patriot Red over Birtch White. But I decided on a Lehman setup and a black bike again for the trike. I love black and chrome.

Welcome HDrider, you'll really enjoy this site. People are so helpful. I too have been riding 2 wheelers for about 50 years now, I also am in the process of changing my Ultra over to a Trike. I've told my wife to make sure that I stay in the center of the lanes since I love to lean into curves. It'll be a new experience and the info that is shared on this site is real helpful. Again enjoy your new toy.

HD, welcome..:) I don't care what everyone rides, I wave at ALL of them ! You'll love the trike more everytime you ride it. Let us know when you get it and ride safe..

Welcome to the board, Like trikerjim said it does not matter what U ride, just ride. Both brands have their pros and cons. The thing that matters is that U and the wife are happy. U might want to read the thread experiance riders, it has a lot of good information on it. Sounds like it would be a blast riding the trike all the way home. Just don't push the road time and get too tired.
Best of luck to U and post some pictures and keep in touch.

Hey hdrider - welcome!

I have a HD FLHS - pretty much the Road King's daddy. It lives very peacefully along side the GL1500 Motor Trike. Get a sideways glance or two when I wear the HD cap or a stealer shirt on the 'Wing, but once in a while I'll wear the wife's Goldwing Millineum jacked on the 'Glide just to shake things up. One thing about the trike and the 2 wheeler - they are so different in ride, feel, sound and looks that I can get off one and directly on to the other with no problems. Have never done trike stuff on the bike or vice versa.
I do suggest before you try it though you get well used to the trike, and do take time to acclimate from one ride to another. (I've been at both kinds of riding for 17 years, for 5 years before that I had a bike and a sidecar rig, and regular ol' 2 wheelers for 15 years before that.)
