I been thinking of a trip up to Alaska. Wanting to know what is the best time of the year. Never been there except a stop during my Military days. I am assuming need passports to go thru Canada. It isnt written in stone yet but wanting to know what all is involved.

Kevin of DK Custom would be your guy on all things Alaska. Maybe he'll see this thread and chime in soon, if not shoot him a PM.

I believe July/August are the best times to go. There are two things to take into consideration-

1. Weather
2. Mosquito's

July might be a bit colder, but less mosquito's, August a bit warmer and more Mosquito's.

We went in early July and only had serious mosquito's up North of Fairbanks. We were not too cold, nor too much bad weather either.

Definitely a trip of a lifetime.

This year we are planning to go back up to B.C. Canada to see more!

Passports or a Visa are best to get into Canada.

Rode to Alaska in 2012. Had such a great time we went back in 2014. We were gone the month of June both times. The weather was great, only had our rain gear on 3 times combined on both trips. You will need a pass port as you will cross the U.S. border several times depending on your route. Good luck. Be safe and enjoy the ride. Larry

We went in August of 2007. Like others have said, it is a trip of a lifetime. We spent three weeks and that wasn't nearly enough. Kevin from DK Custom has plenty of pics. Take lots of money. Gas and motel rooms are really expensive.
