Ok, me, 80 years old today....Plenty spry but getting more leery of riding on two wheels....Located what looks like a very nice 91 Goldwing Champion Trike...well equipped....Two owners...First one put on 21K miles and second, a mechanic, converted it to a champion trike and has put on 10K miles...31K miles altogether. .Photos are close to stunning...Satisfied that price is fair. Thing is that the trike is four hours from me via interstates the whole way...I'd rent a car one way and ride the trike back home..If a no go, would just drive the car back to my town and chalk it up as a day trip...

I am seeking any and all comments, opinions, BOLOs (Be On Look Outs), you name it concerning this potential purchase.

Current owner younger than I am but health is causing him to part with it.

Thank you for your assistance.

Forgot to say I know longer have the C50 with the Lehman tramp kit.

A BIG happy birthday, go for it . At this point, enjoy every day at its fullest . I sure do. Stay healthy, that's the key. :clapping:

At 80 you've been around the block a few times so you can sense a good or not so good deal , And Your plan sound's right about renting a car...This way when you get there and after you take the Trike for a good test ride... And ''IF'' you don't like the deal.. Just jump in the car and ride home... Like you say, Just another road trip....

You might want to check and see if it is has been raked. Hopefully it has been for improved handling. Do you have a picture or a link where it can be seen?

1st order of business is Happy 80th, Bob.

I wish you many, many more years enjoying that trike if you decide on owning, sounds like a good one. Without good judgement you most likely wouldn't have reached 80. :clapping:

If you haven't read this this thread, do so, it is a great testament of passion for continued riding.

A big thank you to every responder....the 101 year old guy is a treasure....I will try to post a photo but never have done so thus far on this site. Well, no luck...I saved a photo to my picture but could not get to it when I tried to insert it..I'll try more later.

I'll try to post a photo of the trike I hope proves to be as good as it looks and is described.

Also repeating...I have not owned the Suzuki Lehman trike for some time now.

Sweet looking ride. Hopefully the many within this forum who have an astronomical upper level of experience over me will provide information on any quirks the 91 may or may not have. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Happy Birthday, Bob!! :pepper:

Regards the 'Wing, there was an issue with *some* '90-'96 models, with the 4th gear shifting fork, causes the bike to jump out of 4th or 5th gear. Out of the 11 GL1500's I've owned, I've seen it in two (that I didn't buy)

The quick test for this, after the bike is warmed up, nose it downhill... put the steering tire in a low spot... the chirping, tapping will show up then, as the free hanging fork slides into the gear while idling in neutral. Many times, it only occurs then if not too worn. If really worn, it will probably tap/chirp at idle, in gear or not, in all positions.

This problem happens in a low percentage of GW's, but is expensive to fix if it happens to you. Test ride it, don't expect it to chatter, most don't, just be aware. I love the 1500's, ergonomics were better for a taller rider & power was adequate.

Of yeah, what it sounds like...
