I had a problem with the volt gauge on our Tglide dropping to 11 volts then eventually coming back up to 13 volts. This went on for several days and I took it to an independent shop I'd used before and he order a regulator thru a vendor from Cycle Electric. Long story short, thru no fault of his own I wound up bring the bike home. After some hassle I was able to acquire the regulator I originally wanted from Cycle Electric thru a different vendor. I took the bike and regulator back to the shop I'd originally had it at for him to install the regulator. Next morning he calls and tells me it wont fit but he's worked on the old regulator and all the connections and he thinks he's found the problem. I pay the guy for the work he's done and head for home and wouldn't you know part way home the volt meter drops to 11 volts again! Well I get the bike home and contact Cycle Electric to find out why this regulator won't fit. The only idea the owner of the company (Karl) and I can come up with is there must be a slight difference between a 2012 Electra Glide frame and a 2012 Triglide frame.
Fortunately, the regulator that is supposed to fit my bike has a mounting bracket attached to it that does nothing electronically, it only relocates the regulator slightly. So I took this mounting bracket off and drill two properly spaced holes and now everything lines up and mounts correctly. (The holes in the regulator were 2 1/2" apart, and the holes on the bikes frame were 2 3/8" apart.)
Karl and his people work relentlessly thru this whole mess trying to figure out why this regulator that should have fit didn't. They really went above and beyond as far as I am concerned. And if you've heard others talk about their quality in the first place, you know this makes a very good company just look heads and shoulders above all the others. I have used their stators and regulators on previous bikes and not one ever failed me.
Thanks for listening. Cycle Electric really is a top shelf company.
