A Good Trip Through the Smoky Mountains

The one thing I did learn on this (our first trip into that area on a bike with nav) is to not trust the GPS completely... it took us on some really questionable routes. I would use it for reference, but not rely on it for route planning.

The wife and I were on that road entirely by accident, Dave. We were taking US 321 into Gatlinburg, the back way, and missed a turn. :blush:

That is how we found it the first time entirely by accident. That's what makes exploring new areas so much fun.

You need to be sure your GPS has the latest update. I do mine every 6 mos. Also set it up for fastest route this will help keep you on main roads. or just go any where and use the GPS to get you back.

Three is fun also but to me three doesn't hold a candle to the two wheel fun on the twisties. I love my three when tooling down the freeway. Just sit back and relax.

I did two.....about two decades ago..........

Unfortunately, I am probably going to be on three for the rest of my riding days do to medical issues........


But, that means doing it all over again on three.......:clapping::clapping::clapping:

I thought that too until I tried the twisties on a trike. It is all about technique. Now I can blast through and never worry about dragging my pipes or catching a bit of sugar sand or gravel. And I'm still smilin' the whole way!:Trike1:

A while back while riding the BRP, a group of about 6 or 7 rice rockets came up behind me. I moved over and let them pass - then I pulled in behind them with the intension to try to stay with them. I did, and for about 7 miles stayed right behind them until they turned off onto a scenic area. I got a thumbs up from them as I passed. So if someone tells you a trike can't handle - tell them to shut up until they know what they're talking about. ThumbUp

I wouldn't try that if I just started riding a trike - practice and get a few miles under your belt before doing it. I guarantee you'll have a smile from ear to ear.
