"31 tooth"

I am looking to replace the 32 tooth drive pulley with a 30 tooth as so many of you have suggested in other threads. My concern is top end speed, or lack of. I have installed pipes,intake,P.C. - V and Andrews cams. low and mid range is no problem it's cruising speed and hills that I have problems. It has a 5 speed and I find myself downshifting. Has anyone tried a 31 tooth. I was told that a 30 tooth can decrease top end by as much as 10 mph. My top end speed now is 87 mph so losing 10 would hurt. Any input sure would be appreciated.

Changed our front sprocket. New Fatshots, air breather, Woods 555 Cams and a nice tune. Have a 2009 TriGlide with 47, 700 plus and have seen 100 on the speedo. Still think it could have went faster but somebody on the back didn't think so.
Have no problem now with hills. Can use six speed, but don't go in it until around 60mph.
Changed every thing after we rode the Blue Ridge stock, downshift, downshift and downshift.

If that were my trike, I think I would look harder at increasing the engine displacement to 95". In your particular application, I would probably stay away from lowering the gearing any further.
