One of the things I missed the most from my 2012 was the 3 pouch fairing bag. I was told that with the fairing vent on the new style Batwing fairing, the fairing pouches would not work.
Recently, I saw where the MoCo had developed a 3 bag pouch for the '14 and up fairings. The center pouch has a steep angle on the bottom, allowing the air to flow through. The button to open and close the vent is still readily accessible.
I took a flyer on the design and forked over the $129.
The installation was comparable to my 2012, with annoying gaps at the leading edge of the fairing and the bottom of the windshield. I filled this gap with some quality automotive grade foam weather stripping with acceptable results.
The bags themselves are pricey but well designed and well made. The Harley pouches have a magnetic closure instead of the plastic buckles, snaps or velcro that most aftermarket brands use. This allows easy opening and closing of the pouches with gloves on and in motion.
The other feature I like is the size of the pouches. The center pouch will easily hold my Samsung Galaxy phone or full-sized sunglasses.
The final test was how the fairing vent worked at speed with the pouches installed. I love the vent design as it greatly reduced head buffeting for me. This feature alone was significant in my decision to trade up to a 2014 and I damn sure wanted that feature to work.
I found the air flow under the bag at speed was still sufficient for the design to work properly.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with the fairing pouches design and quality.
The only downside is the price, but we all know what happens when the product say HD on it.
