2020 tri glide shock adjustment

Thanx to DK Customs you tube post on tri glide shocks I set mine way below what the manual says. Manual says for myself, passenger and cargo I should be around 16. I’m at 8 which is a nice ride. I’ll keep playing with diff settings. From the dealer it was set at zero. 8 makes a considerable improvement.

I use 5 for a single rider about 200lbs and it works good for me too. Manual calls for about 2-3 for me and it was too bouncy for sure. 5 seems to work well and I like it a little stiff. Seems to handle better.

I use five here in FL nice roads , ride is good at 5 even two up.

I quit lying about my weight and set it to 11 ,good ride on our UP MI roads. Bridge expansion joints give me a pain in the a&& no matter what i ride

8 is good

I have a 2020 TG. I left mine set at 0. (I weight 180 lbs) Experimenting with it I found 7 or 8 excellent for me. When the wife rides I bump it up to 16. She can tell right away if I forgot to set it for her and left it at 8 for me.

Best way I found...... replace with Pro-Action for a superior ride comfort. HD has never made a decent suspension in the 60 yrs I have been riding. I heard all the hype dealers were talking about this new susp. Tried it for 30 days adjusted 40 times, & NEVER an improvement. We were stopping every 20-30 miles & changing the adjustment. No help at all.Back to Pro-Action for us. Happy again. I had installed the 13" P-A on our 16 before they came out with 14". Never had a better ride. So,when we got the 20, we gave the NEW IMPROVED HD susp a chance. What a joke & waste of time. 14" P-A = 100 % better ride. I guess if you only ride on smooth roads the HD is ok.

Totally agree Bill. I left the 'new improved' stock suspension on my 2020 TG for about three months trying to convince myself that the 14" Pro Action shocks I took off my 2018 TG were not needed and could be sold. But alas no joy and after installing those Pro Actions on my new TG my wife and I both wondered how we could ever ride without them. Yes they are that good - not perfect as you will still feel big bumps but oh so much, much better than any stock suspension H-D has ever come out with. They are not a necessity until you've had them.

Well, Glad your happy with what you got! That's what it's all about being comfortable with your ride. What works for one may not work for another. Maybe ,on your advice, some day I will get what you got. I have 8200 miles on my 2020 I bought in July. Many different terrains. Even some short grave roads. Love the bike. Powerful, massive machine! And the season is not over here in the Pacific Northwest. Got a few more miles to ride.

Missing shock adjustment

My 2020 Tri Glide has no adjustment under the seat. Any one know why its missing? How would I adjust the suspension?

Thanks

I went thru the same exercise on my ‘21; tried many adjustments and still wasn’t happy. Even lowered tire pressures a bit as advised by others on this forum.

I bought a DK Comfort Lift 13” bracket set and that was a noticeable improvement. Then earlier this month I installed the 13”Bitubo Dual-Action shocks Kevin from DK recommended I try…HUGE difference. I didn’t go to the more expensive 14” Pros because we never travel above max gross weight, they were considerably more expensive and I already had DK’s 13” lift kit installed (one less thing to change out).

Other than the well-know PITA it is to get to the top shock bolts the conversion was straightforward and didn't have to pull the body to remove the HD ‘Premium’ shocks/adjuster and fit the Bitubos.

It now rides (and handles) much better and I am very satisfied with the results.

Great to hear how they are working well for you. The Twin Adjustable Performance Shocks are the dark horse of rear suspension for Harleys. They work incredibly well when total RPL weight is under 540 lbs, especially for their price point.
