Well, I got the clutch problem. I took my triglide in last Fri for the 10,000 mile check, and sure enough they have to replace the clutch. I don't know when we'll get her back. I've been pretty unhappy about the whole deal.

What is the clutch problem.?

I'm wondering the same thing. I have 10k on my clutch and when I pulled it apart this winter while doing the transmission sprocket swap it looked like new yet. My dads at 20,000 miles looked great also.

Wife had problems pulling the clutch on her 09. They replaced the spring with one from a 96" engine set up, a lot easier to pull. She has 25,000 miles on her trike and has no problems with slipping.

Good Luck

Installed the AIM VPC 70T (variable pressure clutch) almost a year ago and have had no problems with slippage and pull is about 30% less, IMO.

I have been on Harleys all my life and even on the trikes....I have never had to replace a clutch. Maybe it had a problem when it left the factory. Maybe somebody up there could not count when they laid-in the disc and friction plates.

I bet some of you guys wish they would take it a step farther...like when you pull your TG in for service and have a problem...they say..."yep...trike is broke...we have to replace it". Now wouldn't that be a deal! (Except for the ones that have already paid the Harley tax and spent the thousands to make it run right.)

Has anyone installed the HD EZ Pull from Harley? Theyre inexpensive and make a huge difference! Here's a good article on them with pics.

EZ Pull Clutch Big V-Twins

It is my understanding that '06 was the last year it was made for the big twin (AKA Easy Boy Lite by White Bros.). Someone told me that HD changed the design of the clutch ramp after that year to that of the easy pull. You wouldn't believe it though if you had a brand-new TG with the 103 clutch!

HD started with the 2006 MY installing different ramps and a lighter clutch spring. My 2006 Ultra when it had the stock spring was much easier to pull than the clutch on the 2005 Electraglide Classic I traded in. Over the years HD used many different springs each one with a different weight. The spring in the MoCo is installing on the 103 equipped bikes and trikes from the factory is the CVO spring which is a heavier spring. With the engine work I just did on both mine and my dads TG's I decided to error on the side of caution and install the SE spring which is even heavier than the one which comes stock in the TG, to me with the VPC the clutch pull isn't very bad. If you want to lighten up the clutch pull some you could install the spring they started installing in 06, the only problem you may run into is possible clutch slippage.

To date I have read about 2 people with Triglides needing their clutches replaced due slippage, I'm wondering if the spring is heavy enough.

Here is a chart I come across a few years back which list all the springs HD has.
