2008 GL1800 Motor Trike rear end

OK, I had my trike in the shop because the shifter forks went out. Had to have them replaced. That went OK, expensive, but OK. This trike only has 37000 miles on it. I've had it since new and I do most of my riding in the twisties in the mountains and probably average less than 40MPH overall.

When my mechanic took the trike out for a test drive the rear end started making grinding noises. He took the trike back to the shop and checked the punkin. It was full of ground metal. So... he pulled the rear end and took it to a shop that specializes in rear end work. When the mechanic at the rear end shop finally got the rear end apart and was trying to re-assemble the dang thing with all new parts it wouldn't go back together.

It seems the chopping and welding Motor Trike did to the rear end to make it work with their kit has warped, or twisted, the rear end housing and now the bearings won't go back in. The mechanic says there is no way the rear end could have warped on it's own, especially with only 37K miles.
Now I'm looking for a good rear end for the Motor Trike 2008 version of their kit. It's a fixed axle, not IRS. Anybody have a spare one laying about? Please let me know. I just need the housing because we already have all of the new parts to go back in it.

I'm trying to get ahold of Motor Trike but probably can't until Monday.

Sounds like it should have been a Motortrike fix in the beginning. Now that everybody has touched it and dis-assembled it I doubt Motortrike would honor a replacement without them doing the tear-down and re-assembly. Might sell you a whole new axle, you'll need to furnish them the Serial Number of the kit.... so they can tell when it was built. Just my FYI...... sounds like this or something else caused your tranny to take a crap, shifter forks had to have help @ 37,000 miles ???? :AGGHH:

Never seen a Shifter have that problem unless the shifter had been abused. Stomping it into gear ETC. Motor Trike is pretty good to work with, but seems like there are a lot of fingers in that pie. GOOD LUCK RIDE SAFE

If he has/had the wonderful ghost shifting my 2010 GW/MT kit has.
Mine drops from 4th back into 3rd under hard acceleration. Occasionally 5th back to 4th when it feels like it.
Im not surprised it took a dump. Im waiting to bend my fork at anytime.
Since you cant get the trike/bikes to do it on demand Honda wont help nor admit the condition even exists. So 37K to replace the tranny forks isn't a surprise to me. Ive heard of it before.
The fact the pumpkin went is. Unless the transmission dropping out of gear alot burned up the rear end
