Lovin' it, but the dreaded FI light has appeared. Knock sensor or ECM (high dollar). Hope the Knock sensor cures the problem. Makes me consider the CanAm, but there are problems with with every brand, so I'll keep the faith.

Remember it's nine years old now. They are still pretty dependable machines. The only problems my '02 GL1800 has had (other then dealer created problems) are a couple of sticky switches and an O2 sensor.

You might find the part(s) you need on e-bay or one of the motorcycle bone yards for less.
 
Yes, I absolutely agree, stuff breaks over time especially. Maybe just did me good to whine a little. I've replaced the knock sensor, left side, since that's what the code said. So far, so good.....

Interesting.... how did you read the code? I know as a two wheeler you could leave it on it's side stand with ignition on for about 5 seconds and it would flash the code. As a trike, the side stand is removed.
 
Not sure how other trikes do their conversion, but with the RS pull the left side cover where the side stand connects to the the rotary off/on switch. So then ya gotta turn the rotary switch 90 degrees to make it on the 'on' position, then jump the brown & green wire on the plug in under the seat, then do the read out on the short and long flashes on the FI light with will equal the code #. That's sort of short explanation, not quite that simple, there are other steps, like the off/on of the ignition and revving the engine to 2500 rpms, steps shown in the service manual. The code for the right side the knock sensor is 26, 25 for the right I think. Then it's a proposition of replacing the knock sensor and hope that's the solution. If it isn't, them most likely the ECM that cost the big bucks. Could be a faulty wire or connection somewhere, but that's another story I suppose. Reading the code is, a long flash is 10, quick flash is 1.

I guess I will need to do some research on reading the codes on my CSC Cobra before I have a need to do it.

At least now you have a general idea, but no need to borrow trouble, it may never happen on your Cobra Trike, and if so, there's plenty of information out there. Just a step by step elimination to get to the problem. Easier said than done, of course. I'm pleased to see more informative posts here on the TrikeTalk forum, I believe it will grow in time as Triking is becoming more popular.
 
Wish I lived near some of you fellas. There's no way I'd be tackling something like this. That would be a dealer visit for me, unfortunately,,,.
 
You are so right Rich, those Honda shops will screw you over until the cows come home. I was fortunate to find a GW guru not far from my house, a really nice guy who helps me in those times of need, can't thank him enough.

Yeah,,,. I wish I also had a Wing Guru near by. Oh well,,,.

The only positive thing I can say about going to my dealer is that the service manager is top shelf and has also become a good friend. I trust him and his team 100%. But even with that being said, I still have to "Pay the Piper" for the service. At least I know that the job is being done correctly and neatly.
