Hello everyone......:D....

Wondering......anyone converted this combo?

2001 Electra Glide Classic & Frankenstein tike kit.

Looks fairly straight forward.......anything I should be overly concerned with?

Just a little bummed about loosing the saddle bags
but the kit looks sweet...

THANKS.....

I have a 04 with that kit, had good dealings with those folks. good looking stuff. installed my self ,no special tools , in about 10 hours not painting the fenders

Kool......thats what I needed to hear....:D......

I have the tools & knowledge & plenty of hot rodding experience
but custom bikes are sort of a new arena for me.

I'll post updates when this project gets going......

You mite need repair manual for swing arm removal ,swap bushing too supplied swing arm , reinstall .follow their instructions for rest .keep swing arm swung down out of the way (the best u can) wile putting belt in place , and bolting haves together.

very good kit, did mine, 01 ultra in about 8 hours not counting paint,no special tools needed. had mine on the bike lift that i added 3 ramps to b4 1 started, added 3 posts [1 for each ramp] to make them level with the lift and then took a piece of plywood layed it across ramps and had plenty of space for tools etc....so all was waist level and very easy to get to. one word of caution if you have only ridden 2 wheels [and i still am the but of the humor sometimes] since kindergarten, don't forget to steer LEANING DOES NOT STEER WITH 3 WHEELS.

i made it out of the garage and about 30' before i center punched 1 of my trees ,a big fat oak. lesson well learned and more money spent. you definitely need a raked tree also, i've ridden mine both ways, so you can steer it like an old farm truck or steer it with power steering. [i always have to find things out for myself]. good luck and happy riding. also if you have been going through belts, the 00 and 01 harleys have junk rear pulleys, after 3 belts in 60,000 miles i went to a 1 1/8 rear pulley and belt, no need to change the front and am very happy with it.

i also retro fitted the belt gaurd to the swing arm to help keep the gravel away. had my soninlaw build me a box for the back since losing the bags was a bad thing, out of aluminum tread plate, i designed it and he built it, since nobody with bad nerves can weld, we hung it from the tourpack and i made a rubber bumper to rest the bottom against the lower part of th rear end, 25'000 miles later all is still good. the box holds all the saddle bags would and a bit more.

Re: 2001 FLHTC and Frankenstein kit.....RAKED TREES???

Good to know....thanks everyone for the info!

Had a couple bro's give me the same heads-up
about actually steering as opposed to leaning
in to a turn......:AGGHH:...that will be an adventure
I'm sure.

RAKED TREES?!.......have been told yes...and not
to waste the cash..........don't really know who to believe.

I do not know anyone with this exact combo...

FENDERS????
......anybody got pic's of kit installed with the ol'
FL-style fenders as opposed to the wide fenders?

I think the old FL-style fenders are just waaaay too kool.........not looking for a "fat tire" kinda scoot.... but that's just me.

Thanks.......I'll keep ya posted!

my opinion for what it's worth....i rode with no raked trees, then with the triglide trees, and at last with the 5 degree rake kit you can get from zook at this site. GET THE TREES FROM ZOOK.

Re: 2001 FLHTC and Frankenstein kit.....take-off parts?

What did everyone do with your "take-off" parts?

What, if anything, did you upgrade/replace?

Kit has exhaust included....

Just curious..........

-Thanks,

rider1234us...

I thought the 2001 Electra Glide Classic has
a 1-1/2" belt?.............

Thanks for the info...

I have 1991 FLTX with Frankenstein kit. Great kit, but install rake kit and Frankenstein kit exhaust does not sound good and too loud. Build you own exhaust with S&S "S" pipes and mufflers of you choice. Take off parts worth very little, but everybody sells them on ebay. I kept mine, if I sell bike I will convert back to two wheels and sell Frankie kit and bike seperately.

Thanks for the info...

came stock with 1 1/2 belt, 1 1/8 belt is supposed to be stronger so with that year rear 1 1/2 pulley being junk and a belt eater I opted for the 1 1/8 pulley and belt, miles will tell the tale.

Kool...keep us posted how it goes......

I looked at several '00 &'01 'Glides and noticed
the finish on the rear pulley starting to flake a
little.........wierd.....

The only other thing I can think of would be some
sort of alignment issue......I dunno...

Will update as progress is made......:Trike1:
