Good afternoon all
Everyone here may know how to do this already but a few days ago I decided to try to enter my emergency start code. I had to talk to Ironhorse 54 and NJMike to get the first step figured out. As you know once your goldwing is converted to a trike, you do not have a place to put the physical key to open anything to get started. If you haven't tried it, I recommend giving it a shot in a comfortable setting vs on the road and in a panic.

I want to post the steps I used to open my trunk but I'm afraid I will get a lot of blowback if I post how to get in the CSC trunk without a key so I will skip that step for now.

Emergency Start Steps:
So once you get the trunk open, everything else is the same as the two-wheeled gold wing;
  • Hold the start button a few seconds until you hear it beep.
  • Press the button on the faring door the number of times your code calls for and then press the red start button to enter the number.
  • For "0", just hit the start button
  • Once you enter the last number, the electrical system will come on if you did everything right.
  • Go ahead and start your trike.

OTHER NOTES:
  • It's a good idea to keep a spare key fob battery on your trike.
  • I put my key codes in my phone as a contact so I just look up "Dragon" in my case and there is the code along with the notes on what I need to do.
  • along the same lines, review how to use your other emergency equipment like your battery jump box and if there is a special step you need to remember, drop that in the note section as well.

If you have some ideas on what can be added to this list please let me know.

I hope this helps somebody.

James,
I have a 18 Honda Goldwing Tour DCT with the CSC Encore Trike kit.
Was wondering what I would do if things went South.
Can you send a PM with the full instructions, so that I may print them off and store them in a safe place? Since my last stroke, simple instruction have turned into something way worse than difficult, on so many things.
Thanks,
John

I know the OP was talking about Wings - however, wanted to mention that the Harley has a similar system.

The reason I mention this is - in the back of the Harley manual, there is a tear out that allows you to write in your code - and then place that tear out in your wallet.

I have to imagine that the GoldWing has a similar document somewhere.

Good morning
Honda provides the code with the key on a strip of paper as well but I'm prone to loosing little pieces of paper and stuff that stays in my wallet a long time becomes unreadable. With my luck, it will be the last two numbers that get scratched off.
I recommend the phone contact for your code as another option becouse It's easy to look up and you can add notes there as well.

I would love to know how to get my CSC trunk if my Key Fob is not functioning. I had an issue with the trunk not opening/releasing for an entire day not too long ago, this would also help me if that ever happens again.

I found out just recently as far as the Viper kits, it does not have that pull cable. It was a bit surprising because I have always heard before that you would have to locate that pull cable to open the lower trunk. Instead, it does have an insulated cable that attached to the opening mechanism under the top trunk. I have not been able to verify if this is the same for the Encore which is used for the 18+ GL1800's. I would assume that the cable needs to be accessed somehow in order to open the lower trunk. I'm not sure on an easy way to access it.

I found all these instructions perhaps not applicable to an 06 GL1800 trike. What year Goldwings do these apply to and is only a CSC thing?

I have a CSC Viper and was involved in the teardown and then installation of my Viper trike kit to a 2012 GL1800. There was definitely no provision for a pull cable. And on my last CSC Viper kit installed on my 07 GL1800, there also was no pull cable. I never needed it but did have many opportunities to search for it just because I had heard similar information that it was supposed to be there. I don't know if it was present for the CSC Cobra or Cobra XL. Now on a CSC Daytona that happened to be in the shop at same time, there was a pull cable on that. It also had a little button on the top of the trike body just under the trunk that operated an electric release.

I'm just taking a wild guess. The GL1800 Viper kit has the cable that connects in place of the original right hand saddlebag release cable. Since it has that release cable, maybe CSC didn't see the need for a hidden cable pull.

FYI, the procedures are in the manual!

I just looked at the CSC owners manual put out by CSC for the Viper/Encore and then compared it to the owners manual for the Daytona/Arrow. No where in the manual or in the installation manuals for the Viper or Encore does it mention any emergency release cable. But if you look in the owners manual for the Daytona/Arrow it does. It is listed in the body section of the "Trike Features".

One big difference mentioned between the Viper/Encore and the Daytona/Arrow models is the Daytona/Arrow is the Daytona has a battery operated release using a button. It mentions " Your trike has a battery powered trunk latch. If the battery is discharged the trunk can be
accessed by pulling the emergency release cable
that is located behind the left-hand side cover."

Under the installation instructions for the Encore, it does mention "6. Route the release cable from the trunk forward to be under the seat area." but surprisingly not mentioned in the actual CSC Trike Owners manual.

It looks like it should be present in the Cobras as confirmed by @Marc H, the Encore, the Daytona, and the Arrow. For whatever reason, it seems as though they skipped it for the Viper models.

And I just confirmed the Cobra emergency release cable. It is listed in the installation instructions. (Look at #4 in screenshot)

There are two release cables on the CSC Encore model. One on the left side and usually the end is visible in front of the removable panel. The one on the right is UNDER the seat. I removed the seat and moved the cable so that it is accessible on the right hand side. Once the seat is back on, I tuck it under the edge of the seat so that it is less noticeable but very easy to pull out.

Mike (pwhoever) is correct. The Viper does not come with a separate emergency "dead battery" manual release cable because it already has a manual release cable, the one that comes on the bike, which is the OEM right side saddlebag release, which it's cable is disconnected from the saddlebag and routed to CSC's trunk latch mechanism.

For some reason the installer routed one of the release cables right next to the latch of the CSC trunk on my encore. Makes no sense! I have to look for the second one you are mentioning.

RANDY RANDY RANDY you DA MAN so which CSC has the release cable ???????????? THANK YOU

CSC provides a factory installed trunk release cable on the following models:

Encore: Honda Goldwing 2018 through current
Daytona: Harley Ultra Classic, Ultra Limited, Ultra CVO
Arrow: Indian Roadmaster & Roadmaster Elite

The "Emergency" Release Cable is a necessity on these models because their trunk latchs are operated via an electric push button located on the upper truck and/or an optional key fob actuator, either of which are subject to fail should the trike's main battery or the key fob's battery die.

James, if you are referring to the cable which is on the INSIDE of the trunk next to the latch, that one releases the helmet holder on the left side passenger handhold.
