A friend of mine , a died in the wool BMW rider has learned ,after much back and forth with his dealer . His bike is out of warranty and will cost as much to repair it as it is worth on the market.

I fixed the butt pain problem with a Beaded seat . in summer I use just the Beaded seat, and in cooler weather I add a Sheepskin on top of the beads. Yes the beads are hard , but keeping the air flow helps cool the boys and the cheeks too.
Pain sucks and acute pain really sucks.
I had good luck at the Pain Clinic in Winston Salem , Nc. when we lived there. It took a while to get regulated with the drugs but, I still had times when I was more stupid than normal.
Now that we relocated back to Michigan . I have a referral to a pain...
If you want an actual tire depth tool, you can usually find them at your local tire store and at better auto parts stores. They only cost a couple $$ and don't wear out :)
I have had mine for at least 50 years and it still works fine. Can't say the same for me though
