I have a 2020 TriGlide. We were riding and smelled burning rubber. Pulled over to see my breather hose burning like a fuse . Snuffed it out with a rag. I did just fill up, but no different than I usually do. Has this ever happened to anyone? Any mods to the bike have all been done by HD. No mod to breather hose that I aware of. I bought t(e bike new 2 years age and have 8k miles.

Man - could be scary - glad you caught that

I have a 2019....And the ''Stock'' breeder hose is inside the air cleaner housing, And in order to see the hose i would have to take the air cleaner cover off first with a large Allen key...Are we thinking of the same hose......

Do you mean the gas tank vent hose ?

There’s a big difference between vent hose and breather hose…!

The fuel tank has a vent hose also, if it is not routed correctly it could rub on the belt, enuff gas vapors could possibly ignite that hose

He said He just Filled Up ???

Until the OP gives more info we are guessing at best

From the U.S. Army FM- UrScrD rev. B on diagnosing mechanical failures under field conditions: "Always revert back to the last individual(s) that worked on that piece of equipment."

Also the gas tank vent hose is running down right side of frame? All work has been done by HD. Anyone with a 2020 TriGlide have fuel tank breather hose on rt side? Thanks

Has your gas tank ever been off the trike?

if work was last done by a dealership I would call them and have them look at it

The proper name is the Evaporator hose...[AKA Vent hose]...Runs down the right side and out the bottom of the trike...And Into the atmosphere ..

Here is what the fuel line vent looks like on your trike, # 5 and 6

That cooling fan occupies a space that could push against the vent tube IIRC, that perhaps could have been the start of the problem, is that the area where the fire was?

No it was below the fan . I'm trying to load a pic of the burnt hose but having problems.

With my 2019 Tri-Glide......That hose is NOT clamp/tied to a another hose it is free hanging strait down on the inside of the frame away from the pipes ...Also the hose is at least 5 inches longer .....And ends just below the bottom of the frame so its no where near the (Hot) exhaust pipes ....Unless the 2020 Tri-Glides were routed differently but i doubt it.......

Thnx Rhino

From the picture, it route right over top of the catalytic converter. On my 20, it routed in side the frame, not outside.

I guess the California models are different. the tank vent hose on my trike is on the left side and goes to the charcoal cannister. the vent hose on the right side goes to the drain hole that is in the fill connection.

Dealer took bike today . They ordered a new vent hose but in the mean time put an extension on running the line down and away from the exhaust thru the bottom. It looks like about 6 inches of my hose burned off. It appears there were not enough ties holding the hose and somehow mine came out and landed on the exhaust. Dealer was very responsive and immediately took in my trike and repaired it . Back on the road in 15 mins. I would check to make sure your fuel vent hose is secured so not to lift out . Thanks everyone for your input! Ride safe
