Throttlepak

When I had my Vance and Hines power chamber pipes with Rinehart exhaust pipes installed on my 2011 triglide I had them put on a throttlepak which was to take out the delay which I couldn't tell any differance with it or without it. The dealer said it might void my warrenty. thinking about taking it off. if I do and I don't take it to the shop to have it done. Do I need to have them adjust it or remap it or what.

Without it you may have some lean spots, you could always pull it off anytime you have to take it for service then put it back on after.

I put some V&H short shots on my wifes 1200 sporty and it was running lean, thought about fuelpak pretty spendy, talked to a few guys that changed over the pipes and they told me about x14ied`s . $100 , threw those on and it`s been running great, motor stays at right temp. no spitting or sputtering and you can take them off and putt the old hook up back on in just seconds. response is alot better and the price was even better to me than that.

Yea I will agree those Xied's work pretty good to fool the computer.

The TPack plugs in between the harness and the throttle body just under the air cleaner cover. This plug is sensitive to over use and corrosion that could and will cause idle issues and loss of throttle.

Does everyone remember when a few TG owners complained about high idle? Simply unplug then refit and it will fix itself. Use dielectric grease inside this connection for longevity. This plug will corrode and make poor connections to the TB.

Now, what does this TPack try to fix? Here is a shot of the Throttle body idle control table. Do you see the areas circled where this % of throttle is lost? Take a look at the RPM area and the throttle % x and y axis. As you can see there is not much loss of throttle unless you grab a handful from a start or you are lugging your motor.

To increase all these numbers to their full percentage will make your DBW throttle emulate a cable throttle. My question is simply this... Do you spend retail of $219.00 for this or a few hundred more for full control of the ECM so you can take advantage of actually tuning your bike too?

lrmathena, the reason you can't tell any difference is because you aren't heavy handed on the throttle enough for this device to make any difference.

Cheers

I know which one I'd choose, it wouldn't plug into the throttle body:).
