I will be replacing the stock dunlop on my Tri Glide at 8000 miles
Hello hdddocfl, is the stock Dunlop on your TGU the American Elite or just the stock Dunlop tire? I thought I saw where the stock Dunlop that came on the bikes were not the American Elite model. But, hey...I might have read it wrong or just imagined I read that. Getting old ain't for sissy's.![]()
Stock tire I keep 36 Lbs in the front and check it often I ride hard and it shows as the stock Dunlop will be done @ 8000 miles half of what some people get, I will replace it with the American Elite.
My stocker was done in the same mileage area. Went with the Avon 91, handles a bit better, time will tell with the mileage. If I don’t get at least 14k out of the tire, going to take a look at rear tires reversed. I wonder if anyone has experimented with a flat car type of tire, maybe to much of a contact patch for easy low speed maneuvering?
I believe I have right at 14600 on the 91 & still looks pretty good. Keep meaning to put a gauge on it, but always forget till back in my chair.![]()
Lol, the roads here in middle TN are “aged” , so they are a bit rougher, more like a rougher sand paper than a finish grit. That coupled with a lot twisties and back roads and a strong right hand, seems to bid poorly for a long lasting front tire . Going to do some research over on another forum about people running car tire on the two wheelers.
