they have become smaller and cheaper:p The Shark brake fluid tester is the one I own, expensive BUT very accurate;)

Welcome from eastern NC. Nice looking ride. I rode a Honda all my life and still own a VTX1300R. Wife and I made the 'mistake' of test driving a 2014 Triglide and instantly fell in love. It takes a little getting used to but now it's second nature. Wife loves the comfort of the Triglide. That thing is nice on long trips. Happy trails.

In the back ground in one of the pics you'll see a VTX 1800R. It has a beautiful metallic flake English racing green paint job. I might as well post a pic of it. IMG_1875.jpg Though this shot doesn't do it justice due to being under the elm tree. In the sun she glitters nicely. I'm supposed to sell it and The 02 wing I have but thinking I might keep this one and let go of the wing :D

Brings back some memories. I bought an 06 VTX1300R off the dealer floor in Aug 07. Had blue & silver custom paint. Put over 42k trouble free miles on it in the 6 years I had it. Great bike.

As you can see in the right side pic IMG_1890.jpgit has the SE breather cover and the filter appears to be of the K&N type

Then when I took A look at the header pipes they don't appear to join at any point then separate to their individual exhausts. IMG_1894 (2).JPG so where is the catalytic converter?

In the exhausts? IMG_1892 (2).JPG The exhausts appear unmodified with baffles clearly present.

I also found an SE EFI race tuner (32114-01A) in a box.

Any thoughts on all this info?

The 12’s had the cat at the collector. From the pix it seems like the header pipes have been changed to true duals. Also it also has a tune as well as a free Flo air cleaner.

With out the tune, the 12’s are real pigs on response.

I'm certain my father in law would have completed the stage one with the tune. Why would one spend the money and not have the tune done, right? He must have chosen to not worry with after market slip-ons. Though that would certainly open up the entire exhaust out flow.

What you found out about your header pipe almost seals your Cat is gone. And the tuner you found sounds like your father in law has already resolved a great number of Harley issues long ago. You may check the mufflers and find an abbreviated baffles seems like you have a real jewel to ride keep us posted on progress remember you will always be riding with him. :good: Travel safe Fred

Thanks to all of you for your kind words, they are much appreciated.

In regards to the exhausts. Is there any ill effects utilizing the OEM exhausts whilst having a stage one up front?

Howdy

I just added new tires my self for a trip to DC. For my 29th Rolling Thunder. HD changed front tire before I bought it. I added new rear tires. tiger paws from Uniroyal All season for hwy. Working out well for me. about 2000mi. like the handling in rain and lower hwy. noise.

My father in Law wen't to Rolling Thunder 3 times. The last was in 2013 with his wife Kathy who in the same year was diagnosed with lung cancer. She passed in 2014. The toll her death took on him was immeasurable, he was never the same afterwards. However he was so excited she went with him. A treasured memory. Ok enough of all that.

Glad for all of you that are able to make this Rolling Thunder!

new MC2 rear front tire2.jpg Tada! Newly mounted Mich Cmd 2. So I drove the bike with effort) to where the tire was put on, mind you this is the first time I had her out on the road since bringing her home and the original tire with the big flat spot. I thought OMG if this is anything like I'm to expect from this bike i'll stick to the wing. Well Brian( whom the bike was purchased from yrs ago) installed the tire we talked about the bike. Then off I went...... Dang! What a difference that tire made in the bikes handling. No wobble, nice and smooth and oh does she purrrrrrr!!!!! I was so proud to have her out on the open road. Even had a fella starring while in the turn lane. Yes a big grin was on my face. Looking forward to this coming weekend.

Yes, I'm a little boy with a BIG new toy, as we all are. Don't you think?

I have 2 fobs but only one round key. Shouldn't there be 2 round keys. I would like to have another so how do I go about making that happen?

There is a little quote out there "more the miles bigger the smiles" I think you now know what your Father in Law knew... just sayin... ride safe and enjoy Fred

while sitting on and riding the tri I thinking my riding position isn't right, like i'm not in that "cockpit zone" if that make any sense.

1. I feel I'm sitting too low. I'm looking through the windshield at the middle-ish point.

2. I'm leaning forward a tad. Not uncomfortable but still. My arms aren't straight with there being a bend in the elbows.

3. When I turn I'm really reaching far with the outside hand to push on the bar.

Then today I remember that my FIL was 6'4" prob a little less in his wiser years(haha). So I removed the seat and took some pics. IMG_1911.JPGIMG_1911.JPGIMG_1913.JPG

So I'm think'n this isn't a stock seat for the Tri and this is the reason for my position to be not right.

Ok so what are your thoughts on this?

Howdy

Hi you are right that is not the stock seat. But Same as I use. I am 5ft 10in's. Like my low seat I had to change the windshield. Mine is a an 8 8in not the stock height I believe stock is 10". That being said I now use the KLOCK WERKS 8.5" DARK SMOKE FLARE! But have found a cheaper one from another company balled FREEDOM SHIELD. I have ordered one for me: TRI GLIDE® Windshield × 1, Size: 9", Tint: Dark Grey Tint, Style: Touring Width. for my 13TG. If you see something you like, I would call and ask questions I am sure they will help you. Here is a link...https://freedomshields.net/product/tri-glide-windshield/. Let me know what you think.

in the pic you see the seat doesn't have a slot for a backrest so I'm think'n he had it modified so he could sit back further. I can just touch the built in foot rest on the engine guards.

any Idea the height difference it made for you when you changed to the Low seat? Also thanks for the link.

Hi i think he may have gone to a tall boy seat. of had it reshaped. I found a low on ebay and all I did was have it re upholstered. Might I suggest going to a Dealer and try a seat on for size. My HD dealer has samples you can test out. HD factory seat or Mustang at mine.

seat

hi The seat a low just is a lil lower made my seated position more comfortable. I also ride with 16in bars. Vey pricey deal though. with all the wiring. For well worth it for me. Here is a pic.
