2018 Honda Goldwing Trike Coming Soon

Both Hannigan and CSC are showing 2018 conversions now. Saw an advertisement from Neihaus Cycle showing a 2018 CSC, and on Hannigans Facebook from Daytona they are showing pictures of their 2018

It is different enough that it wont be a direct bolt on, but it wont be so different that the current GL1800 trike frame and running gear will be difficult to mate to the 2018 bike. It will just be a matter of mounting points. The biggest difference will be the new body styling and the design and fitment of the front end components, but those are already being conceptualized and engineered.

Ive seen the prototype of the hannigan, and IMHO... It is all out of proportion...

all of them need to slim down the width of their kits and not just make new plastic to match the new bike

Now dont get me wrong on this..

The hannigan ALWAYS had a wide rear end, its just a characteristic of their conversion. that wide rear end did not look bad next to the older wings, after all they are big girls.

Now picture that rear end strapped on to a NEW 1800 which is already a narrower bike.

So you have this narrow front with this huge big but trike kit...

It is totally out of proportion to the front of the bike

I'm working on financing for 2018 DCT Wing and a CSC kit, which is now available. I've been very skeptical of the other kits, and I can only afford one shot at this. Any more input would be appreciated!

I have a 2018 Goldwing DCT with Airbags and am trying to determine the best conversion kit. any thoughts? What about the Motor trike or Hannigan?

I saw a Motor Trike being built at the local dealer.

I was not impressed with the way Motor Trike does the exhaust.

It runs through two right angle joints instead of out the rear with minimal bends as the Hannigan uses. Seems it would be very restrictive. And much more than stock.

not a fan.

I was just on the MotorTrike website and viewed their “Condor” conversion. The pictures were small. Are you saying that the exhausts are bent at angles under the trike before they exit out the rear under the lower trunk? Just curious - trying to get a picture of what you are explaining. Thanks.

two right angles

one is in line with the stock exhaust to raise it above the rear axle (about 5-6 inches if I remember).

The second then takes it to a muffler and out the back

Two just seems restrictive to me.

Maybe try to see one in person?

Was at my local Honda dealer on Friday and asked about how the sales were going with the new Wing. He said he was disappointed. Hasn't sold one since they came in in February. Said prospective buyers don't like the smaller trunk and the smaller bags. Don't like the fact that NOTHING is interchangeable from earlier models. Several folks looked but only 7 even took a test drive. They even knocked the price down $3000.00 and still can't sell one. Whoever buys one to convert, make sure your new kit will have a BIG trunk. You will need it.

I'm having problems with your dealer's story. Something doesn't add up. I know Honda of Russellville is telling me there are getting bikes from other dealers in order to complete purchases they have. Many Wings have rolled out of there. You might give them a call as people come from all over to buy from them. https://www.hondaofrussellville.com/

When I asked my local dealer about the Sales of the new Gold Wing ......

His response was that he had sold two before they had even arrived at his store. So our local dealer seems to have a good response so far. Of course I do not work for him and I only check in his dealership on occasion. I have noticed that the color of the Gold Wings on his Sales floor have changed for what that might be worth.

Why would you be skeptical of Roadsmith or Hannigan?

Agree, why would you be skeptical, both brands have a long record of quality and durability and compliments the GW record of the same. I agree that CSC has a fine looking build and seems they were the first out there with good PR, but does't mean that RS or Hannigan won't be just as good or better than any build out there. Let's wait and see how it all shakes out.

I am actually happy with what I have. I have to admit I was disappointed with the new Wing. I guess for all the reasons my dealer mentioned. In my local GWRRA chapter only one member has shown and interest, and purchased an 18.He did it weeks before it was introduced and bought it sight unseen. Brave guy.

I have a 2018 Honda Goldwing DCT with airbags and am just waiting on someone to come out with a conversion kit. Right now, an extra large helmet does not fit in the trunk unless it is smashed down and two will definitely not fit. Does anyone know if Motor trike and Hannigan have an auxiliary fuel tank and whether they do anything to provide a larger storage area for helmets?

Since it appears that the trike companies are basically using the same trike body with some exterior mods, I would say each has a trunk that would hold probably two full coverage helmets. Time will tell.

I’ll have to admit the small upper trunk does look out of place on the CSC & Hannigan Trike with their wider trike bodies. Still waiting to see Roadsmith’s version of the 2018 Goldwing.
