Takes us 3 days from Ohio also,but we ride US highways down. You will have a great time. We went last year (1st time) & had a ball. Great peeps there (even if they are Texans). :band::bass::banana-pair:
 
Beautiful Area and scenery! My Grandparents lived in Medina about 20 miles west of Kerville at the mouth of Twisted sisters. I went every summer since I was 5 years old, and recent years been taking my family several times a summer. I have some nice secret swimming holes with plenty of trike parking! I hope we can make a ride that way during the Gathering. I know I will either way lol. May be too cold in October to take a dip, but either way beautiful riding!

We will there!!!

We are fairly new to Trike Talk and this will be our first gathering with ya'll (unless we find another Trike Talk gathering during the year first)...........Wife and I already booked at the Best Western across the street from Super 8....I know its more expensive but we've stayed there before and found it to be clean and comfortable (at least it was in the room we stayed at last time).....Our home is only 5-6 hrs away from Kerrville so it's an easy ride.........Don't know exactly how to hook up to the group yet, but I guess "Just look for the bunch of trikes across the street!" ....well, we'll figure it out.

....according to my 2018 calendar the actual dates are Thursday Oct. 4, Friday Oct. 5, Sat. Oct. 6...and leaving Sunday October7.



............I believe it's the same weekend as "October Fest" in Fredericksburg, Tx. located appx. 21 miles down the road.



......In any case, "We bee dair" for sure! ...Oh. Yeah!

I haven't seen anymore info on super 8 yet on this thread for the gathering.....thats why we just booked at the Best Western across the street (costs somewhere around a hunerd' a night for weekend less best western member discount, ect.) ...if anyone decides to stay there be sure and tell them you want a room with microwave and fridge!....they have both with and without.

......I do know this is the Octoberfest weekend for nearby Fredericksburg and I'm afraid to wait too long without booking something! (rooms of same type go for 300 bucks a night during this time in Fredericksburg located about 20 miles down the road "IF" you can find them available as that time nears! :AGGHH:

Have some points with Wyndam. Got room at super 8 for much less. BW rates changed for every day was diiferent. 90 one nite 107 for the next 2.& that is a senior rate. gonna come in on Wed a day early .

Oktoberfest happens every year at this time and we have never had trouble getting rooms. I have waited on Roger to call me back per Tami and he hasn't yet so I called back just now and talked to Tami again. She said Roger will call me on Monday to confirm the rates. There are plenty of rooms, we already have 30 held for us and more are available if we need them.

Most places start senior rate at 55 or 60. You already an OLD dude Randy

Yeah, I know......but I just never want to ask for senior discounts yet...........I kinda feel like that big bass on the line pullin' against the hook!

....I actually remember my first cup of coffee (mainly milk) as I ate my warm breakfast Maypo cereal and listened to my parents kitchen radio playing one of the top 10 hit songs of the week..............The song was "Cathys' Clown" by the Everly Bros.!!!

Alas....I am old............Sadly, I guess its twoo........

....So, I ride!



(and I still keep that song on my HD music stick, along with some old Elvis and Dion tunes, and of course a few songs from those "newer groups" like Creedence Clearwater Revival!!!) ...........But don't tell anybody.:xzqxz:
 
Rooster,you are only as old you feel and as long as you are still riding you are young.my little bride and I have been riding together for 60 years and don't plan on stopping any time soon.Hope to see you guy's this year in the hill country. You quit riding and you get old.Also Arkansas in May will be a great ride.See you down the road. Rev and Georgia :clapping:

I remember when "Whatever Lola Wants, Lola Gets" for the 1955 musical play Damn Yankees came out, I thought it was cool. I was seven, but I learned it was a lie just like Santa. I also learned you get old or you die.

Well gals and guys, I never got a call back from Roger the GM and Im not real happy about that and let them know it. I was not ugly about it, just expressed my disappointment that he never called me back as promised...he has always been courteous and communicative in the past, but given that the rate has been bumped, he probably didn't want to be the one to break the news and deal with the feedback.

Tammy promised me that he will call me so we will see. She tells me that Roger says that the best rate the property owners would let him give our group this year is $79 for Thursday, $99 for Friday and $99 for Saturday.

I'm not sure what happened since last year, but in the 11 years I have been booking rooms for our TT gatherings, I have never seen a $30 per night increase from one year to the next on a group like ours who has been a returning customer for several years running.

So, unless something changes, it looks that is the rate. I checked other properties and they are all noticeably higher this year, so the price is trending up. It looks as if more folks are discovering Kerrville as a destination and demand for rooms is on the rise. As of right now, we have 25 rooms left in our block. I asked Tammy to reserve as many as possible on the ground floor, rear section where our rides start and she agreed to do that.

The phone number is 830-896-1511 and our contact is Tammy. Be sure and mention that you are with the Trike Talk group and that they quoted us $79 for Thursday rather than $99.
 
Might try Medina Highpoint Ranch. Nice cabins, bike friendly, beautiful about 12 mikes west on hwy 16. They would probably have decent group rates? Just a thought

Hey Randy, hope all is well my friend :wave4: so just for giggles I reserved online through Super 8 website at their "best" rate. Paid a whopping $6 total difference from what our group rate was with free cancellation. Funny when booking it stated only one room left...now rechecked and there's 9 more available for these days. Something ain't right here :mad:
 
Could be that this timeframe is same as the event at Fredericksburg and the Super8 wants to cash in on it. Maybe we should change the date of our meet and greet to a week earlier?

As to Medina Highpoint suggestion... It’s a bit far from town for the crowd that likes a handy restaurant, ice house, and gasoline variety ...although it is a very nice place in the country.

That’s why I always like to speak directly to the horse’s mouth and get their name...I always get a better deal as opposed to online. Such as the Lakeway trip I just did...the best online rate was $139.00 & cancellable. By calling the actual hotel I got $116.00 and it being cancellable with 24 hours prior notice. I’ll call Tammy tomorrow - I’ll bet there are plenty of TrikeTalk rooms left at Kerrville.

A week earlier would still be ok with me to avoid Fredericksburg conflict...
