Found a 2010 GW with Hannigan kit at a dealer for $18600. 46k miles, wing or spoiler on rear, very few accessories. Price seems to good to me. Going Saturday to look at and test ride. What should I check, look for and ask about. Dealer does not build them or sell any conversion kits but they are local and big dealership with 3 other stores.

What to look for

Bought my trike but noted the FI light came on after a hard ride. Good negotiating point since the new computer cost about $1000. Yep, tried everything else 1st. Watch for that FI light :xzqxz:!

Check for a rake kit!
Sounds like an excellent price.
Ask if differential oil has been changed and drive shaft spline lubed.
When were all the bike fluids changed?
Have forks been rebuilt?

Hannigan is a great trike kit and shouldn't give you any trouble.
Ask owners for any service records.

Trike is at a dealer. Hopefully I can get previous owners contact info. Any way to check for rake kit in case dealer don't know and I can't get PO contact info?

More than likely not if your triple trees are not painted black it has a rake kit. If you want to know the degree of rake the link I've provided will help you make that determination. Hope it helps.

Measure from back of front tire to cowl of the trike.
Then measure a stock 2 wheel GW. Check the difference. If the same , no rake kit.

Well saw some close up pics of this great deal for $18600. Rear fender has cracked fiberglass down low. Scuffed up rim on same side. Don't know what else till I see in person tomorrow. If I buy would a good body shop be able to repair and match paint or should I just plan a trip to Hannigan in Ky. (4 hrs away) and have them repair fiberglass and paint? Any ideas on approximate cost?

Any good body shop should be able to get the right paint and do the repair. All you've got to do is check it out locally to be certain.

If it's the water base paint like my 2014 Gen II then the body would need to be removed as I was told they could not spot paint and blend thus they had to sand down and paint the whole thing. Mine had no damage to fiberglass (just scratched paint) and the cost was $2,300 at the Hannigan Dealer where I purchased. You may want to call Hannigan Factory to check. If the conversion is a 2010 then it is a Gen I and the paint might be different and thus the procedure might also differ as well as cost. Hope this helps.

Thanks Doc & catfish. I did find s couple other links and for most part sounds like just a few bolts and unplug wiring harnesses then lift off box or fenders. Calling Hannigan Monday to be sure.

Won't be buying this one. Checked it out this morning. Salvage title, smelled antifreeze after ride and numerous scratches and 3 broken pieces of trim rear tires did not match. Both rear rims scuffed pretty bad. Guess I'm too picky for $18600.

I don't believe you are too picky. There are a lot of great trikes out there for that sum of cash.

Looking is part of the fun. May end up making trio to D&D cycles or Dodds. Couple more closer to me I'll check out when I have the time. An 04 and 08 with a CSC. Both have 40k miles

Conversion was done at Tony's trikes in Alabama. Triple trees were black. I had to muscle it a bit taking 30-40 mph curves

If you had to muscle it in 30-40 mile curves suggests to me as standard and not raked. Painted black suggests to me that assessment is valid. Of course everyone defines muscling differently so I can't be 100% certain. Mine is raked and I can take most curves at reasonable speed with one hand on the bars easily. From the most protruding(lowest point) on the cowl to the tire measures 5 1/2 inches. I understand that to be a 5 degree rake kit.
