Oil Coolers

Hi All,

I am a newbie to the site so if this question has been asked before please just point me to that thread.

I have a 2015 Tri Glide and as do most it runs hotter than I want. I have replaced the header pipes and got rid of the cat. That did help the head temp some, but the oil temp is still running hot. Want to put on an oil cooler. I would prefer a Reefer by Ultra Cool but just can't find a place for it to fit. Now I am looking at a set of billet coolers from Wimmer. Two questions: Has anyone solved the oil cooler problem on a HD with the water pump? Has anyone got any experience with the Wimmer billet coolers and do they work?

TIA

One of the site's sponsors, DK Custom offers a tidy looking oil cooler system that is reported to work well.
Not familiar with Ultra Cool or Wimmer so no I'm no help there, sorry...

I installed the DK Customs Dual Cool, oil cooler and filter relocation, on my 14 triglide. I have also raised the gas tank, added the wind deflector, extended the floorboards away from the trike. I changed the header to a catt less and did a stage 1 on the trike, free flo mufflers, free flo filter and stage 1 download. At present I am very happy with performance and for sure happy with the heat issues. I acquired everything from DK Customs with the exception of the stage 1 download. I have visited DK Customs shop, good group of people who understand tri glides. Check out this thread of Kevin's tri glide. http://www.triketalk.com/forum/threa...w-Lots-of-Pics

Thanks for the heads up on the DK Dual Cool. I am going to give them a call in the morning. I really like the mount behind the vent in the fairing. :)

I was very pleased with the level of design engineering that went into it. It fits better than some of the factory stuff, and does a good job of cooling. Plus, I no longer dread a mess at oil change time. ++1 Kevin and DK

And welcome to Trike Talk from sunny Florida!

Just saw this post.

Thanks guys for the good words on the Dual-Cool System.

Ron, feel free to call or write with any questions.

Here is a good link that documents all the work we have done to cool down the Twin Cams, especially the TG's. Click HERE to see it.

Dual Cool and Oil Filter kit Just added. Used standard hoses supplied with kit. Already think I want to change to the braided stainless hoses when I do I will use an-6 usable fittings and an-6 pipe thread fittings in the adaptors. Assuming anyone attempting this installation is technically proficient with mechanical tasks but one thing I haven't seen mentioned in any threads or mentioned in the instructions. After installing I removed the plug wires and cranked several times to prime the system before starting. I also pre filled the filter and housing with oil before mounting. All in all I can definitely recommend this system fro DK Products

Well I just ordered the Dual-Cool and the Relocation Kit. They should be here Monday. Kevin was out of the office yesterday, but Devan took my call and was extremely helpful. Everyone there seems very knowledgable and willing to help. So far this has been one of my better buying experiences.

I will let everyone know how the install goes. After I log a few miles I will give an update on the actual amount of cool down I get.

DK Customs has been one of my better finds. Thanks to all of you.

Ron
