I have had my trike for a few weeks now. :pepper:It is different, but getting the hang of it.:clapping: Wife loves it except for the rough, harsh ride. It is a Champion with the straight axle. I have not had a change to look at the spring setting on the shocks that are on the axle. :D My question is the 2003 1800 Goldwing has OEM preload adjustment. I was told that it did not work with the trike conversion. :AGGHH: But in playing around with things I found out it does work and it does lift the trike up a little. :cxtv: Have not been able to drive do to the weather to see if it made any difference. :xzqxz: Does anyone know what the setting might be for a 2 up ride?:xzqxz:

my first trike was a champion trike kit on a 2008 goldwing. it was a good trike put about 36000 miles on it. never let me down. i had the preload set at 7 or 8lbs. tires set at about 19 to 20 lbs. it road good for a solid axle trike. you may want to play with the preload and tire preasure to where you like it. hope this helps.

Good advice John!! I'd start with the coil over shock setting. Some riders set it too high attempting to prevent body roll and end up causing a harsh ride.

Joe, I suggest you set your OEM suspension preload down low 3 to 5 then adjust the coil over for where your wife is most comfortable. From there you can tweak the preload to correct for body roll and more aggressive riding on twisty roads. It takes a while to find the sweet spot because it is different for every one of us. You'll get it right and hopefully have miles of enjoyment. :xszpv: :xszpv:

Thanks for the information, I will give that a try.

Goldwing/Champion Suspension

I finally got some time to check out the coil over springs. :) Good thing I did, the coil were on the lowers setting. :cxtv: I turned them to the second notch. I will give this a try this weekend. ThumbUp But its a good thing I wanted to look at them because I found the drive shaft bolts loose and one gone. :AGGHH: Found a new bolt at the local hardware store. :clapping:
What is your thoughts on this setting of the springs? :xzqxz:

That is a good starting point Joe. If your wife is pretty light and you don't carry a lot of stuff in the trunk, I'd bet that is where you need to be. I carry way to much stuff so I set mine on my Roadsmith in the middle position.

Remember, each trike and rider situation is unique so play with that setting. Turn your OEM preload down to maybe 5 or 6 then take you wife for a ride. If she is happy and not getting jarred because the suspension is bottoming out on dips then that is a good sign. Use the OEM preload to fine adjust the ride and body roll in corners. :xszpv: :xszpv:
