I was taking a break and I was watching an old Superman show on TV from 1954, And this bad guy empty's 6 shots into him, And he doesn't even flinch. Then when the bad guy realizes the gun is out of bullets ' he throws the gun at Superman.. And guess what Superman ducks.. What's up with that...:Shrug:

Well it's very simple, his Superman suite is bullet proof, but the gun might hit him in the head and that would hurt.

I don't know, He's the Man of steel, Not the suit of steel....

Superman is actually from the Dune universe. He is wearing a shield - it will stop fast moving objects, but slow moving things can pass through the shield. BTW, Superman doesn't fly on his own, but by the use of IXian technology.

(How's that for getting my geek on?)

Can you go over that one more time???

The reference is from a series of science fiction books by Frank Herbert starting with the book "Dune". The books are iconic in science fiction, and spawned a truly horrible movie directed by David Lynch, and a SyFy mini-series that was not bad, about what you can expect from TV.

The shield is standard for soldiers in most of the Dune universe, and the planet IX produces a lot of the Dune universe tech.

That explains a lot....

The producers could make us think that the bullets didn't hurt him, but George Reeves would not have liked it if a gun was bounced off his head. I watched it as a kid and loved it. If a show today claimed it was fighting for "truth, justice, and the American way" there are 40 groups that would protest the very idea of such a thing. They would object to using American Way and argue that it was exclusive and racist.

I loved Sanford and Son, but that is another show that never would be allowed in production today. If things aren't "politically correct", we aren't suppose to be subjected to it. What a crock.
