I'm guessing most members on this forum are also on the HD Tri-Glide forum but I wanted to post below what I posted on that forum just in case.

I was planning to order an Ironhorse trailer next month for pickup in April. I got an email on Monday informing me that Ironhorse is having a Black Friday sale. I contacted them and asked if that affected the quote I had received earlier. Answer was yes. I would save $260 by ordering now which I did. Still picking the trailer up in April.

KJB I am also interested in he Ironhorse trailer. Are telling me its a five to six month waiting period before delivery or pickup? Damn! Sure seems like a long waiting period.. Your thoughts?

I don't want to speak for KJB, but I believe he was just waiting until spring. My experience was I ordered, and went down to pick it up in less then a month. That was with a very custom order. Sometimes they have a few in inventory.

No the wait isn't that long. I will be in FL February and March. I will be picking up my Ironhorse the first week in April on the return trip to WI since we will be passing very close to the Ironhorse facility. Julie told me their normal order to delivery time is a month to 5 weeks. I am looking forward to meeting the people and seeing the Ironhorse operation. They are great people to work with. Next winter the Trike will be in the Ironhorse and going to FL with us.

Phew! I was concerned about that time element for a bit..
I of course have been to their web sight and from what I see I really like that enclosed two bike and or trike trailer. The only thing the sight is void of is the cost of these puppies and I'm guessing that could be due to accessories. Anyone care to share a round about or base figure? I am in the process contacting them via e-mail but no response as of yet...

You can get a Two and Go, pretty much fully loaded with graphics for about $8500. Of coarse you can get one for less without all the options.

KJB, did you go with the Harley Davidson Graphic like mine?

No I did not. Originally I was going to go with full body paint to match my tow vehicle. Julie actually talked me out of it and it cut the cost by $1,900. She and I discussed several options of different shades of the gel coat and different graphic packages. In the end I settled for plain white gel coat with the knowledge that I can customize it later if I want to. Julie called it a "blank canvas." I do like the way your HD graphics look and I do have time to make changes.

Thanks for sharing Fusionfool great looking trailer. Now it seems the only other hurdle I have is getting it from Morrison Tennessee to central California, it's a few miles for sure.. When I make contact with them I'll see what obtions they can provide. Thanks again for all info...

Funny thing, Julie actually talked us out of the custom paint as well. Usually dealers will keep tacking on so they make more, but she was persistent. Every time I said custom paint match, she said no, you really don't want that :) She gave two reasons for not going custom paint.
1. My color option was black, she said if a scratch would happen, it could look terrible with exposed gel coat.
2. Black and sun light? She said do you really want to bake you bike?
I have to note the white gel coat does not heat up in direct sunlight, I have opened the trailer on a 90° + day and no extreme heat. Happy we made the choice not to go black.

When we ordered ours, I was looking to have it delivered. At least near by where I could pick it up. Julie convinced us how we needed a mini vacation to TN :) I am sure she will run the numbers for miles and either convince you a vacation is in order or, maybe accommodate your wish to have delivered$$ You pay mileage and fuel cost both ways either way, but delivered you pay that person as well. Our cost to travel from mid western WI, with motel in TN was a savings of about $600. We tow with a Ford Eco boost so mileage was 20 mpg down and about 18.5 mpg coming back (had a head wind coming back).
Just an FYI With the trike loaded, we get about 14 mpg average with lots of hills and speed at 60 mph. When we went out to Wyoming this year, 75 Mph over all average we were getting about 13.5 over all average. So they are the most aero dynamic trailer, but you are still towing a trailer so count on some loss with higher speeds and winds.

Yep, black was the color I was considering too since that is the color of my tow vehicle. I thought it would look sharp but after talking to Julie, it made sense not to go that route.

They did quote me shipping to NE Wisconsin not to exceed $700 and could be as low as $550 if they had more than one coming this direction. But since they are on my route home from FL it will be convenient to pick it up and as mentioned I'm looking forward to meeting the people and seeing the operation.

I have done my share of towing over the years, all with V 8 engines in pick up trucks. We however are in the market for purchasing a new auto as well, and have been considering the Ford explorer with the tow package which has the larger horse powered V6 and advertised to be able to handle up to 5,000 Lbs , "note I said advertised " The trailer is a round 1,100 lbs give or take 200 hundred pounds or so, my trike goes in at around 1,100 lbs, so the Explorer should be able to handle at least half of the advertised load, not like an 8 cylinder of course be at least to get ya by, and as you mentioned your speed and head wind is always a factor which must be accounted for.. Appreciate you sharing the cost factor in your travels.
it will be more than a few bucks for damn sure but I like your wife's suggestion about "just taking a mini or early winter vacation"...Hummmm I like taking vacations and have been on one for several years now. Maybe a vacation within a vacation is in order. :cxtv::Santa:

Oh, Julie is the person you will probably talk to at Iron Horse, not my wife. Sorry I see how it read now. KJB had referenced Julie as well, and I just followed the topic. When you talk to Julie at IH you will see who we are talking about. Good people. Good Luck in your ventures.
