dug the Chinese Harley out of the back corner of the shed, as Elise is doing her RE class licence training. she is doing well and should be road legal next week.
She will have to ride a 250cc for a year before she can get a full licence and ride a big bike or trike legaly.
the chinese harley hasnt moved for about 2 years so i wondered how much drama it would be to get it going.
heres a few pics of when i wheeled it out,

fitted new battery... went to drain any old fuel, and nothing came out. fuel tap has a diaphragm, so i cranked the motor. still no fuel.
removed tap and found it seals had perrished and gummed up.
being chinese i couldnt get new parts, so off to the wreckers with the fuel tap, which is a nut attachment with a left and a right hand thread so it pulls the 2 parts together.
found a Honda cbr 250 that has the same arrangement, but he wont sell me the tap as its a customers bike..
next place had sold one that morning and said a new honda part was about $300.
next wrecker says he imports them from the tap manufacturer direct and sells for $70, but has no stock till next week. soundss good if i cant find one
tried one more wrecker on the way home. he also had imported the taps and had one similar sitting in his office. got it for $65... Cheering.
difference is no diaphragm. so i fitted it and jambed a 4 inch nail in the end of the vacuum line, perfect fit, and fit clamp.
put in fuel. hit starter, shes up and running like a champ.
gave it a quick hose and a wipe and took it for a run to the village and back.. no dramas.
adjusted toe heal shifter to be useable with toe only and its all ready for a roadworthy inspection.
looks half decent too for what it is. you will see a few design choices that are a direct rip from HD,

That "Old Girl" cleaned up real nice Jeff!! Glad you located the new gas control. Sometimes getting parts for knock off designs can be a real challenge... Good Luck to Elise on the class... No doubt, a fun time will be had by all.... :xszpv: :xszpv:

Cheers Gold Rush. I had forgotten how much fun a small bike can be. well its actually about the same size as a harley, but its sooo light, you can throw it around like a rag doll. times like this i realise all bikes are awesome in their own way. I once loved an old Vespa that handled like a bag of spuds.
Another bike on my one day list is the monkey bike. i guess you had them in the USA. not sure of the proper name i think it was a honda. ill try to find a picture.

LOL Goldrush.. thats the one. my internet is having troubles tonight. but i did find out they were re released in 2009. only to find out that they are now outlawed in Australia.
im over this nanny state government...
Hang on to your freedom my American friends... as Joni Mitchel said.. you dont know what youve got till its gone.

What is the actual name of that Chinese Harley?

John, its made by Qui Jang, not exactly sure thats the right spelling. but they were marketed in europe as a Keeway. i think it had a different name here, but has keeway written on the exhaust pipes. the model is cruiser.
its a 250cc
I think yours is a brand that is supported here, i cant recall the name its sold under, but i will look it up.
PS it looks cool

Yes here it is a Johnny Pag
I also have a CF motto V3
story I bought it from an old lady 45 miles from here.
She won it in an action 6 years ago and it sat in her garage. Had 12 kilometers on it (aprox 6 miles.)
Her Son in law tried to start it off his truck to sell and fried it. I bought it for $800.
I took it home, needed a starter relay and clean the carb. It's a 250 cc automatic ( CVT ) goes like the dickens.
I always heard about crap bikes from China. Mine are both fun and dependable.

yeah. the chinese bikes get rubbished based on the very poor quality thumbster (mini dirt bikes) that were imported here for an extremely low price and didnt last a teenager a season, In my opinion the chinese road bikes lack the finesse of the japanese equivalents but are reasonably well made for the price and are proving themselves fairly reliable

Yes crude, un finished, poor fitting parts, cheap chrome, plenty of plastic. But if you look at anywhere in a Asia they are ridding 1,000's of them as their main transportation. Got to be somewhat dependable. Trust it cross country ??.?
Ride it steady on the highway for miles at 70 ???? I do ride it to work daily and take it on 120 mile rides. Roads in this area are from hospitable.( Steep hills, hair pin curves. )

Looks like a Chinese version of a Yamaha Route 66 (250 Virago). Good design to begine with and if they did a decent job in the copy it should run a long time.
