Goldwing trike vs harley triglide

I like Coke better that Pepsi.
I'd rather have a Chevy.
Mary Ann or Ginger, I don't care.
I like Brick.
I have a Honda Trike and a Harley Heritage.

I prefer a little coffee with my cream and no sugar.

I like unsweetened tea. Being from the south that's a rare taste bud.

I Love my wife's Banana Pudding.:)

I have a Chevy, 2 Fords(their oldies but goodies) , a Dodge, a John Deere and a Kubota.

I also have a Honda GW, a Yamaha YZ250F and I would like to have a Harley.

I hate all politicians even though I do miss Regan. I though the comment about Regan was fall on the floor funny. I made up one about Hillary. Here goes. "I hope Hillary does not get elected. We don't need a third Bush in the White House'. :D

Best of all is watching my wife hold her arms out like an angle while we're going through the twisties.

Three hundred miles this past weekend and hopefully more next weekend.

Did I say I love my wife's Banana Pudding? Wind in your face, bugs in your teeth and Banana Pudding. It don't get no better than that.

To Wing or Glide?......

Old thread...I know....but I just read ALL of this and great convo until some clowns got WAY off topic! Stay focused people!

I had a '01 Electra Glide Classic with a Hot Rod Frankenstein trike kit STOLEN last August...

First trike I owned...that trike screamed! Stock

Twin cam 88ci motor and the Magnetti-Morelli EFI

worked perfectly!.....after I worked my simple mojo

magic on it...CLEAN THE THROTTLE BODY!

Anyway....still looking for "the" replacement.

Noticing many triked Wings available...hhhmmmm.

Had a friend many years ago that rode Wings for years and had GREAT things to say about them.

Now....I'm torn....I like what I'm learning about the

GL1500 bikes. Been riding on and off most of my

adult life...first street scoot was a highly modded

Sportster ironhead...man....that beast would fly!

Lots of Wing Trikes to choose from...mostly 1998

up thru early 2000X models. Seem priced very reasonably....either super low milage or 100K + !

Is there a series...or year "group" I want to keep a eye out for?

Liking the wings the more I learn..

Thanks...

Oct.17,2013,

I had stopped by Barb's Harley Davidson yesterday to check out the 2014 Triglide. Looks like a very nice bike, typically HD design. I see they came up with lots of improvments to compete with the WING. They are getting there little by little but have a long way to go when it comes to all the creature comforts of the WING. After reading lots of HD articles on the internet yesterday, it seems as though the main reason for buying Harley's is that it makes you a "BADASS", or at least it makes you feel that way even if your not. They're really isn't a big issue of which bike is better. It's just a matter of preference. The Harley looks and sounds more like a true motorcycle, whereas the Wing is sometimes called "Boring." People have said it's like riding a 3 wheel Honda Accord. LOL.

The WING is covered up more with all the Tupperware. It's easier to clean, except for my WING which has lots of Bling and requires more time to get in all the nooks and crannies. LOL. The article I read yesterday said the HD owners are part of a cult. Not a bad group, but a very loyal bunch of riders. Even if the Harley's weren't as futuristic as the Wings, they would still buy them year after year. That is what I call loyalty. Harley represents the real motorcycle , not the three wheel cars. LOL. Also, I was told that the Harley's hold their valuel better on resale because there are sooooo many Harley riders out there.

I guess I just like the six cyclinder smoothness and power. I had a bunch of V-Twins and always traded them in because of the vibrations. I just need creature comforts, which the Wing has, but the Harley Tri-Glide is definitely a great TRUE MOTORCYCLE. From what I have learned from Mike, the new Tri-glides are much smoother now. The only vibrations are when you are in neutral and waiting for a light. Once you accelerate, the vibrations are gone. Also they are now water cooled so the engine can run stronger and longer. They have also integrated a ton of new electronics to make the ride much more enjoyable. They also have a ton of torque at the low speeds and plenty left for high speed. Congratulations to Harley Davidson.

The dealer I went to visit yesterday was Barb's Harley Davidson in Mt.

Ephraim, N.J. I met a salesman there named Mike Smith and I really enjoyed talking to him. He was very knowledgeable and explained all the differences in the Harley's as compared to the Wing. I now realize that the main reason I would consider a HD Triglide is that I would be COOL. It would also be something I never had, and I love to try new things. If I ever do buy a Harley, I would definitely see Mike Smith and the rest of the great staff at Barb's HD.pepper

:Coffee: I dunno about all the other stuff Amigo?

 Hell, It just gets my nut!

I gotta agree. I traded my Triglide for a 2015 Wing with Roadsmith conversion. The wifey is much happier with her Queen's Throne on the back, and to be honest, it's nice to have the power, quietness, and smoothness of the Wing for those long distance runs. Don't get me wrong, I'm still a Harley guy and I get my fix with a 2014 Streetglide when I want to rumble.

We could beat this topic to death, couldn't we?

- When I owned a Lambretta I thought it was the best scooter ever.

- Whoa, then came the Cushman scooter - really awesome.

- My first Honda was a 150cc and it could really tear up the road.

- No, wait a minute, my 305 Suzuki was a super sport bike on or off road.

- Good grief, Charlie Brown, my Triumph TT Cub ate up the pavement like no other machine I've ever ridden (ran it 120 mph in the middle of the night) the wind almost tore my head off.

- Holy cow Batman, the Harley Panhead Bobber was out of sight. I was too cool for words!! Couldn't fight the women off fast enough. (God, I could sure live with that problem nowadays. Oh, well)

- Then I managed to run across a Norton 750. Now, that bike was more than adequate for road trips.

- All right, got to admit I got a good deal on the Moto Guzzi V7 Stone. Never heard of it before and damn near got killed on a country road one day. But it sure was fun to ride.

- So now it's back to Harleys. Okay, I'm a sucker for fitting in with the pack. Got a deal on an Ironhead Sportster XLH, 1000 cc.

Did some maintenance on it and OH MY GOD! That baby could rip up the pavement any day of the week and leave a pile of asphalt along the side of the road.

- Guess this is getting boring now, isn't it?

Quit riding for 12 or 15 years due to back and leg weakness. Thought life was over. Then found a Suzuki 800cc trike. Nice V-twin, but not good for long trips.

Sold it and bought a BMW K1200LT, a monster, comfortable touring bike. Crap, the maintenance on that sucker was as much as my mortgage payment. :AGGHH:

Third trike is a Goldwing 1800. Love it. Easy to maintain, doesn't empty my wallet every other week, great for long trips, put 1,500 miles on it a week ago.

Happy as hell with the Honda.

(Maybe... I've been taking test rides on Tri Glides in the past month or so.)

Just shoot me now. I'll never be happy.

Hey! I think I heard a Boss Hoss on the road outside the house. Gotta go now. Don't wait up for me!

When I started looking for a trike, I knew I didn't want a Harley. I do like the look of the Harley. Still looks like a motorcycle. But it is air cooled, not for me. I knew I didn't like the look of a wing. Too much Tupperware. Not into Star Wars. I found out both were too expensive for me. Almost bought a Wing until I sat on it. Couldn't get away from that fast enough.

I started looking at the alternatives. I settled on a Honda 1300 VTX R Champion. No reverse. No problem it is light weight. I live in Florida. Flat. Don't need reverse. It still looks like a motorcycle. Drives and feels like a motorcycle. Feet out in front just like my cruiser.

I can put my feet in three different places. If I wanted it to feel like a car I would have bought a car. I like to push/pull fell of the steering. I do like the quiet of the Wing but my VTX has a nice muffler on it and has a good sound to it. I have vista cruise, Stereo, floor boards, heal toe, highway bars, chaps, windshield, lowers. Mustang seats, adjustable backrest driver AND passenger. I can add lots of other goodies. Believe it or not, there are other trikes out there besides Wings and Harley's. I'll bet the Valkyrie make a killer trike.

"I'll bet the Valkyrie make a killer trike."

I bet your right Cavie but I just cant get past the ugly long enough to consider it?

I know they run like a striped ass ape and all that but I would have to cover up that mill.:AGGHH:

(go ahead and chastise me now but it just wont make much difference to my tastes?)

BMW makes a better looking engine.

Sooner have a wing or something like your ride?

We have a Honda vtx custom, 2 wheels, a goldwing with roadsmith kit, freewheeler, super glide HD, 2 wheels, wide glide, 2 wheels.
Local we love the 2 wheels or the free but for trips it will be the Goldwing Roadsmith every time.
I will always have at least one Harley, I was mostly raised on em, in the blood you might say.
For pure power it's my one of the 2 wheel Harley's.
The free is okay power wise but not as strong as the GW
