Even thou I am a ex veteran, I cannot remember if I can do this.
Can I still shoot my 3 1/2" shells thru a SLUG barrel of my 20 gauge shotgun?
My shotgun has two (interchangable) barrels but I was wondering if I can shoot different loads thru the Slug barrel? I know the slug barrel is grooved differently but still wondering? any Riffle smart people out there can help me?:xzqxz:

You should be able to shoot any sized load through your gun, even magnum slugs.

If you are talking about shot shells, I would not put them through a rifled barrel, as the shot will trash the rifling in the barrel.

+1 to that. Be a BAD Deal !

My slug barrel is a smooth bore requiring rifled slugs. I can shoot anything through it, but there's no choke. Other than home defense, I'm not sure what using that barrel would be good for...

Rick,
my rifle is a 20ga. shoots 2 3/4 to 3'' size shells in both barrels. The slug barrel is Rifled with relief chamber.Made by Mossberg.

if it states on the barrel that you can use 3 1/2" shells then it is safe to do so. rifled slugs are more accurate shot out of a rifled barrel but i have owned shotguns that shot rifled slugs out of a smooth bore barrel very accurately. as far as home defense a 20 gauge is a excellent choice with 3 1/2" shot. many people have shotguns for home protection and if you are ever forced to use any weapon make sure that the intruder is never able to testify against you, if you know what i mean. there have been many cases taken to court where the intruder actually ends up the winner and you end up the loser and you go to jail for years. the old saying ,shoot to kill is truer than you can ever imagine. hope you don't have to use any weapon for defending your life or the life of loved ones.

I like the Mossberg shotguns, but have been partial to Remington, over the years. I like the adaptability of either brand.

I got ya on making the first shot the last shot. I use an old 16 gauge single shot (Savage/Stevens)converted (shortened) for Home defense with 6 rds. in a slip-on on the stock end. I've gotten pretty quick practicing loading and unloading.;)
