What is it for?

I have a 1996 GL1500A w/Motor Trike conversion. Below the left front speaker is a knob to adjust the headlight. Below the right speaker is a blank hole about 1" square with a rubber plug in it. What is its purpose? (the hole, not the plug :xzqxz I want to install a cigar lighter socket for the purpose of powering cell charger, iPod, etc, but I don't want to eliminate something that the spot was originally designed. Would welcome some alternatives.

Under the right front speaker on my '91 SE is a knob to open two lower vents.
Probably same hole??.

I was wondering that on my 1999. I've looked online but so far no answer. I guess I could call a dealer. I jsut bought mine 2 1/2 wks ago and it wasn't till a week later I found the fade button for the radio.:xzqxz:

I've only had mine about a month. Operators license is only a couple weeks old. Hate to poke new holes in a great lookin' trike.

I know "What it is" !!!
It is the port for a knob that allowed for a foot warmer. found it in my owners manuel. It apparently was an option and not standared equip.

cooltech, I think I'll go ahead and install the cigar lighter, I doubt I'll ever need a foot warmer. I can't think of any other convenient spot. Thanks.

We had a '95 gl1500SE. The SE was Honda's high-zoot model, with CB, 2 tone paint, trunk spoiler, adjustable passenger floorboards and such. As noted, one of the SE's features were toe warmers, operated by a knob under the right speaker. Other models had a rubber plug to fill the hole, and this is a great place for an electrical port.

My 84 Aspencade has a cig lighter right there
