I will be fitting a Frankenstein to my 2007 ultra & have been told as the wheel base stays the same there is no real need for a rake kit straight away????.

Also can anyone recommend an exhaust i can use as I don't really want to use their exhaust & apparently the original exhaust wont fit once the trike is fitted.

I'm using the Vance & Hines Big Radius 2 into 2. For bolt on applications you will need and exhaust that ends before the axle. If you want the exhaust to exit out back you will need to do some modifications to the pipe & muffler brackets or the exhaust itself. I went the easy bolt on route and have no regrets.

What is it about the exhaust they offer that you do not like. I have it and like it. Also I did use the triple tree on my 02 Road King Frankenstein Trike. Did Frankenstein recommend not needing it?

If you just ride it around town....you may not need a rake kit. If you plan on doing long rides with curves and twisties....bet you end up with one. I hear some guy on here sells them for an excellent price.....it would be the best 700 bucks you ever spent!

Forgot the rake part of the question. You will need the rake kit with any trike kit. Since my trike has a Harley springer front end there was no easy way to do the rake kit. I had planned on sending my front end to Liberty Sidecars where they are able to remachine the stem area of late models Springer forks to allow a 5° additional rake. The only reason I didn't do it immediately was due to cost and finances. I have now found a much cheaper raked stem kit which will be my next mod. I have been riding my trike for almost a year without additional rake and every bump and road irregularity is transferred right to the handlebars. If you keep a good grip on the bars and know what to expect from road irregularities you will be OK but you will eventually get the rake kit, so do it as soon as its within your budget.

'scotty....aren't most springer front ends raked a bit more than stock? Is yours a stock rake?

Also, the OP asked about exhaust....go to any muffler shop and they can do sleeved extensions...even bent if you need to clear the driveline.

I was lucky and my exhaust headers cleared the driveline. I just had Master Muffler make me two 12" extensions, and then made brackets to attach the mufflers at their stock mounting position.

Stock modern springers are de-raked so that the axle stays in line with the neck angle(rake) even with the long lower rockers. See pic below to get an idea of the de-rake.

...oh come on...somebody please chime in and say I am wrong....before I tear up:xzqxz:

In my case you are wrong :). On the highway and in smooth twisties my rake seems perfect. Around town with bad roads, potholes, manhole covers, bumps, dips, etc. is where my front end twitches with every irregularity. Might just be the springer though.

yes you need to rake it or it will steer like an old farm truck. i used an 09 triglide tree on my 01 ultra and it worked just fine and less than 1/2 the cost of aftermarket

Hi ZED...have you bought the kit yet? i have one for sale if your interested. it fits a 2006 an up Dyna's. My father in law put it on a few years ago becasue he could not ride as a bike due to cancer in hi back. unfortunatly he passeda away last sept. I inherited the trike, and took off the kit to make it back into a bike. it only has about 1,000 miles on the kit. let me know if your interested. happy riding.

I would be all over it but My bike is an Ultra, Will be fitting steering damper first & when funds allow a 2009 tri glide front end as cost is much better & at the same time do the cams to something that will give me a bit more bottom end.
