wow what fun are we having now!!! also trunk indicates open but it shut and locked???

well survived that visit from the bitch Irma, left a little damage considering we where just 5 miles from east side of eye wall!!! Lots of trees and crap scattered about will take a few more weeks to finish cleaning up! Once it was safe use the trike to get around I started using it to do my daily rounds, but now the trunk is open indicator is on all the time, can't figure out why, the trunk shuts and locks but still shows trunk open??? So anyone help me solve this really haven't had time to do a google search yet just got internet etc back last last week.

I would check that the trunk door is making proper contact with the switch, Or that the switch isn't gum up ....

ok I have looked for the switch I think I know its location but a hint?? first time owning a Honda and so far enjoying it greatly!

My thoughts:

- once on, reach back and try pushing on the top of the passenger back rest to see if the indicator goes out.

- make sure that the 4 screws to the 2 strikers inside the trunk lid are tight.

- verify that all trunk hinges bolts are installed and tight.

- do you have a rear trunk lid handle ???

Mine just started doing that on a recent road trip. Very annoying because the trunk open warning takes over the Nav screen. I figured out that I could reach around and push back on passenger back rest and the warning would go away. I got tired of dealing with it tried to fix it.

I found a thread on another forum on how to disconnect it. Just like yours, I know that it was closing and latched so I wasn't worried about it not working. I did check that the latches were secured along with the hinges. I was able to get to the wire but my fat fingers couldn't get it disconnected. I had to remove the mechanism ( remove inner panel on trunk, several screws, remove the latching mechanism by removing several screws on outside rear and below, and popped it out) and I was able to reach the connector to disconnect it.

I did find out that on the mechanism, there is no way to adjust the warning switch. I just disconnected the wire and put it all back together. Just had to be careful not to overtighten the most outward screws for inside panel as they screw directly into plastic holes and could easily be stripped. I haven't had the problem since. Surprisingly when I open trunk and ignition switch is on or in acc, I will still get the open trunk warning but it never comes on unexpectedly any more...
