Will a Torque cam (SE 447) increase or decrease my fuel economy

Just checking to see if I can expect decrease or increase in MPG.

Since winter has set in here I cant report on the S&S 465 cam I had put in my 17,hoping that with the increase in power and torque I gained it will take less throttle to get moving. If I lose some mileage then so be it.

I’ m sure a lot depends on how you drive it. But keeping everything equal on how I use throttle from stock to cam I was wondering what to expect on my mpg.

You probably will not notice a gain in MPG unless a qualified tuner runs a leaner mixture during dyno time, but that would be counter productive IMO

I think Jack hit on the head. Again it’s not just the cam, it is the combination of parts that will make the biggest bang for the buck. The exhaust is a major component. To much resistance you lose potential power, overflowing you lose bottom end and have to twist the throttle more to get the response you looking for. There are better cams in the aftermarket, as the 447 is a epa compliant cam, but if warranty is the issue than you are very limited.

I put Andrews 57H in my 103, gained tons of tq and passing power. No noticeable loss of fuel milage. More power equals less throttle.

If you put a Cam to increase power or for that matter anything else to increase power then Human Nature will Naturally click in and you will use that extra power which will in-turn cause a reduction of MPG......:Shrug:...

Decrease. You are gonna have so much fun with the upgrade you won't care.
