Big O,

From a previous thread/post, I'll be there... Hope that you plan on participating in the T.O.U.R. and hopefully will also consider the TT/TOI MEET/RIDE event planned for Friday, the 8th. http://www.triketalk.com/forum/threads/21828-Events-while-attending-Sturgis-2014

Have a safe and enjoyable trip!ThumbUp

Daydreamer

Am riding up with someone on a two wheeler and could only find accommodations
for 3 days. We are staying an hour 20 minutes out of Sturgis. So am not sure what
the plans will be while there.

Day one 566 miles down from Oakland Park to Byron Georgia. Found out
my trike goes 123 miles before running out of fuel. New Power commander
on and the trike stalled out twice. Seems that it has rectified the issue and
is now syncing up right. Hopefully tomorrow all the issues will be worked out.
Am still trying to figure out how to keep from having everything go into
cramping mode at some point along the way. Today hands, feet, then calves
for an hour of misery on the hwy. Think i will sleep well tonight then up at 6AM
breakfast by 6:30 and hit the road around 7 AM for another full day of riding. :xzqxz:

566 miles ThumbUp you did good. Enjoy your ride. The closer you get the more bikes you will see. :wave4:

Yes you did good on the miles. Just a thought or two on the cramps.

Maybe try to relax more on the grip? Move around on the Trike, like move your feet around on the floor boards and your butt in the seat? Don't ride with anything in your pockets, front and back? Ride some with chin up, then with chin down? Turn your head when looking around once in a while? And drink plenty of water, not coffee?

I put the question mark after each suggestion cause you may be doing them already. Relax and enjoy the trip.

You said only 123 on a tank of Gas, how fast were you running ??, what year & Model of bike do you have, now on Aug 3rd how far have you gone and when do you think you will be in Sturgis??, the Best to you & Have Fun..

* Thank you most of those things am already doing. Sometimes it doesn't hit
until off the bike and am relaxing in bed then the cramps make life hell.

* more often than not am running 70 but once in awhile we step up to 75 - 80 mph.
I have a 2007 Yamaha Stratoliner with the CSC back. Am in Columbia Missouri tonight.
Should be in Sturgis two days from now. Am finally running into guys that are going to
Sturgis. We took a quick detour and rode the Dragons Tail and am happy to say by passed
the tree of shame and pain. So far have been lucky for the most part with weather. Wow
only a few more days and Sturgis. :GL1800:

Cramping can come from a few things.... One is staying stationary for so long. Like the previous post you need to move around. One thing when you are in bed before you get up for the day and when you go down for the night, do little circles with your feet. Don't point your toe you will get a cramp doing that... just little circles 10 times to the right then 10 times to the left.
Also when you get a tank fill, do little shoulder shrugs up and down then do small circles with your shoulders forward and backwards...10 of them..or however many you can do. Do same thing thing with your wrists little circles to the left and then to the right. It would not hurt to walk around a tad, like about 10 minutes. Stretch your calves by putting your foot up against a curb and lean a little into it until you feel a little stretch (do that after you do some foot circles like mentioned before while in bed). Turning your head from left to right and looking at the sky then at your boots 10 times would be a good thing too.
Another very, very important thing....drink water. Muscles will cramp up without the motion lotion they need...water.
I know this sounds like a lot but you will feel a lot better if you do this...not just for the ride but every day. It works I promise...I have RA and it does help.

I sure hope to meet you up here at Sturgis!! Day One was a good time. One thing Ii have not been able to find are the dew rags with the ponytails attached to them..they just have long tails but nothing to put my ponytail into. Seems they are a thing of the past. I guess I will have to get the sewing machine out for next year *sigh*:Dorag:

We came home from the hills and Sturgis last night. Did only one day in Sturgis (Sunday) but we had enough of the 2-hour trip down Lazelle street, all the look alike/sound alike Harleys, and the world's largest tee-shirt market to last another year. For all of you going, Have Fun!!! ThumbUp

Also, both Hwy 34 east of Sturgis and the New Underwood shortcut had slides earlier this summer so have gravel detours. Be careful!

* well found out mine is due to having sugar - Sugar depletes the magnesium - when
i do magnesium it aides in relieving cramping. So no more sugary drinks or candies on
the road and more heavy duty magnesium and calcium pills. Today was much better that
i didn't have any sweets (no cramping on the road). Last night i had sweets before bed and
both legs cramped severely. I was saying a number of choice words and did more research
and found the sugar / magnesium connection.

I sure hope to meet you up here at Sturgis!! Day One was a good time. * That would be great. Am only going to be in the area for a few days but am so far in
Michell South Dakota - so will be there soon. 579 miles ride today.

I hear Sturgis is calling you!!! YOUUUUUUUU WHOOOOOOO Hurry the heck up :)
Ride safe!
And I will have to look into the sugar factor.....I take magnesium anyways because a drug I take depletes it big time....Nexxium is the culprit.

Well went to Sturgis and am on the last leg of the journey home. Took a side
detour and rode the dragons tail. Stayed up in Custer area was a nice ride up
to there. Spent 2 days in Sturgis and Hill and Custer areas. Got to go see Mt
Rushmore, then to Devils Tower, continuing through the Colorado rockies where
unfortunately saw a motorcycle fatality. The drive was good though. From there
went to Mesa Verde where the roads were worse than the Dragons Tail as it's 30
miles of continuous switchbacks with many being 15 - 20 MPH. The Ruins were
great. Onwards through gallup NM and then onwards to home. Am in Tallahassee
tonight and so tomorrow will make home by nightfall. Wow close to 6,000 miles
so bike will definitely need to be serviced. Unfortunately the bike was stalling out
after the freeway for most of the trip. Now that i am back in florida it hasn't stalled
again. Maybe part of it was the lower gas octane and the altitudes. Got some great
pictures along the way. Now am exhausted so nighty night it's 11 PM and i have a
6 AM wake up call to be on the road by 6:30 AM. Tired but has been a good ride.
Unfortunately also saw another bad bad accident along the way as well and had a
close call with a semi that cut me off in a lane that ends and on the other side a
concrete wall so i had about 3 inches between the truck tailer my trike and the wall.
Whew !!!!! That was a close call ; just glad i had the presence of mind to steer clear
of an accident. :GL1800:
