Which glue for windscreen?

I want to attach a RAM mount to the inside of my GL1800 windscreen without drilling and bolting and am wondering what glue, epoxy, or "weld" to use.

The purpose is to mount a Garmin GPS directly over the speedo dial and high enough it will be easy to see without turning my head and looking down.

All recommendations gratefully considered.

Not sure what a "RAM" mount is, but on my last bike I used silicone to hold the GPS suction cut to windshield. The theory was, it wouldn't be so hard to remove if I wanted to.

Heavy duty Velcro like the type used for Easy Pass, This way you can remove it easy when you park the bike. That's how i attache my garage opener and my ipod shuffle.

Whatever you use I would tie a string to it so if it comes loose it won't fall too far. I tried securing my Magellan with velcro in my truck and the weight of the unit and mounting arm and suction cup was too much. I tried to put a large piece of velcro on the front of the dash and the other piece on a smooth peice of plastic then mounted the suction cup to that, it stayed on for about 15 minutes and that was a pretty smooth ride. It pulled the 2 pieces of velco apart. That super tough industrial strength might work, what I used was the regular stuff about 2 inches wide and 4 inches long. The Magellan Maestro only weighs a few ounces.

I like the theory! But how did you remove the silicone???

Not sure gluing a GPS to a windshield is such a good idea, especially a Garmin, even if the location is ideal. Weight + vibration is a deadly combination. But if you do, then definitely use industrial strength Velcro; it is quite amazing. G'Luck.

Be a lot easier to use this Ram Base mount. RAM Motorcycle Brake/Clutch Reservoir Base with 1" Ball

You can get a long or short arm to pretty much put it where you want it. Be a lot safer than glue. Any epoxy glue would work, but it doesn't matter which one, in time, the heat and cold will cause it to fail.

The clutch/brake reservoir is the way to go, but if you have your heart set on mounting it on your windshield I'd recommend Scotch Fasteners which claim to be 3X stronger than Velcro and I believe it. It looks like Velcro except one side is not fuzzy. It snaps together and believe you me it takes a lot to pull it apart. It can be found in Walgreen's drugs or Radio Shack. I use it to attach my radar det. and it holds like you wouldn't believe.
By the way, I have a friend that bolted his GPS to windshield and calls it his heads up display. He is tall and looks over it and it is a Garmin Marine which he likes because the sun is not a problem with glare.
