Working on plans for a 7 to 10 day stay in DC to see the sights and the Smithsonian in or around late September or early October. Not going to trike there (seems the crime rate is a bit high and hotel parking is expensive), but fly there and back. Looking for a place to stay that offers airport pickup, reasonably close access to the Metro, maybe a nice breakfast and nearby evening dining. Those who have been there - any suggestions?

Crystal City....close to Reagan, on the Metro line with shopping and restaurants. Lots of price ranges.
