I have a 2013 tri glide and want to add power. Harley has a 103 stage 4 kit that does not void warranty but not for trikes. WHY ?

My guess would be due to the increased compression and the package loosing some of the low end torque a trike needs. There are some folks running the Stage IV without issue, the biggest problem is Harley says no. Another side of the coin is you have a 13 which I'm sure isn't within a 60 day delivery period which means it would only have a 90 day warranty through Harley, anything else would have to come from your dealer which could mean toss a coin if you have a claim.

And I just bought extended warranty. !!!:(
Maybe I won't buy Harley's kit. I have a buddy who builds awesome and reliable motors running stronger than any Harley kit. I'll think about it for a while. Thanks for that info.

I did the full stage 4 using all HD parts. I had some stage 1 motor issues that were covered under warranty that required a complete teardown anyway, so going all HD made sense since the labor was only $50.00. My dealer gave me a sweet break on a lotta parts and stuff too, so I got the full 4 at a fraction of the regular cost. 6,000 miles on it so far... no problems and very happy with it and I am not worried about any warranty issues.

If you are out of town with the stage IV kit or any of them your warranty is no good unless you are at the dealer you got it from. I was in Colorado with an issue on the motor and they told me I had to take it back where I bought the bike, even though the parts were SE.

Stage iv kit

 Hello I just did a race stage iv kit in my 2015 trike, with new head pipes, mufflers, new oil pump and plate, larger oil pan, roller rockers, roller lifters, screaming eagle air cleaner. Also Dyno it to. 120 horse, 120 tongue. Runs very cool now

Stage 4 is under warranty

I just got stage 4 put on my net 2015 trike. My dealer found in the stage 4 book that it was not warrant. *But his comp would take it under warranty. *So he called Harley. *They told him the catalog is wrong and you can do a stage 4 on a harley trike. It's all down *in writing from Harley. I am doing it on my new trike Harley.*
Just thought you would like to know.

That is one rare Stage 4 build, normally on the 2 wheel bikes I've seen them in the 104 - 110 hp and no more than 115 average on the torque. Usually trikes will always HP and torque a lot less than 2 wheel bikes due to the larger parasitic loss of the drive train, extra wheel, axles, and differential.

I normally expect a trike to HP and torque an average of 15 or so percent less than a 2 wheel bike. Biggest thing, at the end of the day is that it runs good and your happy with it. IMO a dyno is just a good means of tuning, gives you and indication if the tuning adjustments are making more or less power or torque.

Very good numbers. Beats the heck out of my 120r, but I'm very happy with it. Does get warm but I ride kinda hard.

Stage 4 is under warranty

I will send the dyno when I get it done.
This is my first trike. *I have had 2005 and 2009 Ultra Classic. I have not done any stages on those but I am going all the way on this one.I am also putting on a lot of accessories. Will post pictures when I get the trike.

Your 120r would hp and torque higher in a 2 wheel bike, a trikes drive train has so much more mass to spool up it's murder on those numbers.

I understand completely. I thought the op said he did a stage IV on a new trike and got 120/120. Oh well sometimes I get things wrong.

Does a stage IV have to consist of a Harley kit, or can it be pieced together?

Later.

I don't know if you are talking to me. But I *am getting a new 2015 trike Harley. With that they are putting a stage 4 in it. It's more then one kit. I would be glad to let you know what parts and kit if you would like.

Sorry but your 103 stage 4 will not pull those numbers on legitimate callibrated dyno.... I have a 124" in my trike. And I might be close to the 120 torque then your 103 would ever be.

Thank-you FLTR2008TRIKE, that's what I thought too.

My 2010 two wheel Heritage isn't anywhere near those numbers either, but I get confused about stage IV motors?

You know how the happy dyno's are. Awhile back I put this dyno sheet up, they claim the same bike, just some dyno trickery. IMO a dyno is a good device for tuning, the numbers I take with a grain of salt.

Agreed. A corrected dyno will make the tuner work to get solid results that the bike perform in all conditions and riding terrain. A weak or happy dyno won't and the overall performance of the bike will suffer
