VP-1 Windshield Vent Kit

no I haven't tried one yet an am looking for someone that has it ... Down here in south Louisiana it gets really hot and still a windshield that directs the bugs and rain awa from rider. Going to remove my step up windshield to se if it helps on the trike... if I hear anything i'll pass it on. the first dealership I went to gave the sales hype with subtile disclaimers... not comfortable with answers... want to hear from someone that has it on or off their bike Ihttp://www.triketalk.com/forum/images/smilies/gah.gif think I can recognize bull **** fairly quickly.,. read on and good luck!!!

I haven't seen the "VP-1" on anything, but I few people are using the vent for a Goldwing in the Harley windshield. They said they work great. I have been thinking about one on mine also. They are all plastic, but come with a chrome trim, & are less money.
Either way you have to make your own hole, or buy the whole windshield. which is quite spendy !

Would you have a web site or info on the Goldwing vent? I have 3 windshields so am willing to try if I could get one.

Vents are available on most Goldwing vendor pages. A caution - there seem to be many curvatures of vents depending on the windshield. For stock GW shields, there is the 1500 vent, and a different one for the 1800. Some vendors have a GW vent for '04 and up, too. Aftermarket windshields may have their own vent made for that windshield, or the stock one may fit.
The thing is for the Goldwing vents is they all look alike, but fit differently and take some carefull cutting if your 'shield needs a vent hole. There are plenty of sites on the interwebz with instructions on how to cut the plastic and install the vent.
Some aftermarket windshield makers have thier own design, As you have seen, e-glide goodies has their own design or one that looks like the Goldwing vent: http://www.eglidegoodies.com/id161.html
Back in the day I had a Vetter fairing with snap in vents. I also used this type of vent on a few HD windshields. The snap in vent is very easy to install. All that is needed is a hole saw and some sandpaper to smooth out the edge. Usually 2 are installed toward the each edge of the windshield.
Pics below are the GW type, vent from e-glide goodies, and the snap vent.

An inexpensive place to buy HD winshields is Fast Aire Motorcycle Products, Fast Aire. Bought a shield from him for our '98 Eglide in 2001 and it was still on it when the bike was traded in 2012. Very pleased with the windshield and and it's hard to beat the price.

I haven't been able to get ahold of the guys that have their vents, but I think it is this one from EBay: Goldwing Voyager Smoke Windshield Vent with Chrome Trim 3D18 | eBay
In fact it looks just like the VP-1 plastic vent. They also have the chrome trim for extra. The one on EBay has the trim.
I can't say for sure, as I haven't tried it myself. But I have been wanting to give it a try.

Thanks, I am putting on the Street Glide wind deflectors with tipple tree baffle, then will see if I still want to go with a vent. Let me know if you try one.
Thank you,

Thank you,

I have the fork baffle under the head, & the fork baffles that go outside the forks. Almost completely blocked all the turbulence behind the windshield. I built my own in both cases. Both are the same as tglidestuf. But my baffle under the head is all aluminum.
I am thinking a vent that can control in the windshield would be nice.

I just placed the wind deflector and baffle on last night. I will test ride this tomorrow for a longer ride. I think this may have done the trick. I also have the 2" tank lift kit from DK, so that may even help more. I will let you know what my feelings are after the weekend ride. Supposed to be lower 50's and 60's, so good test conditions.

I wasn't completely satified until I tried the fork Baffles on the outside of the forks. Really did a number on the turbulence. Dennis doesn't sell them anymore, but another place is producing them. Dennis will direct you to them. Or you can do a search on here & the Harley Davidson forum. for tglidestuff.com .

Well I took a ride with the Street Glide fork deflectors, and the baffle. I will say it helps, but still have updraft turbulence. Think I may try the vent. I like the deflectors, and they do help but still get that wind right at the chin coming up from under the front of the gas tank. Not as bad, but still there. Enough where my beard is flowing up in my mouth, and nose.
Edited this morning: Got to thinking about wind shields last night after our ride with the fork deflectors. I am running a 10" Cee Baileys Cee Devil. I have the stock shield to try, and another 12" Cee Devil. It may be that the lower 10" shield is causing the updraft more than the taller shield would, so need to try with and without the curve top shield.
