US Hwy 119

Anyone ever rode this route? The wife and I are planning a ride next month.The first leg will be across Ky to Harlan County (using hwy 100 at Russellville) to see family.The 2nd leg will be to Take 119 from Harlan to Charleston WV to see our daughter and family.

Now growing up in eastern Ky,I am familiar with mountainous roads,but have never traveled the full length of 119.

What say ye? Wanna go too?

I have traveled 119 from Charleston to pikeville ky many times. It is 4 lane and 60 mph speed limit. Good road , few coal trucks but not many. Traffic is low and moves along well. I like this road Much better than interstate.

I don't really mind the coal trucks.Don't see as many in Harlan any more.They even took out some of the train tracks.Sad too,means jobs are slim pickings,but still the coal is plentiful.I do miss my mountains.
