i'm looking at the midrider seat by ultimate seats. wonder if they are worth the money. anybody here have one on there bike?

I've never had either an Ultimate or Mustang but from posts I've read it appears to be a flip of the coin. Both seem to be good. When I had my VTX and was considering something to get rid of that terrible factory seat, it was about 50/50. But there was a trend that seemed to point to the Ultimate as the best. Especially if you were on the heavy side. But that was just me reading but never actually owning either. I went with a MeanCityCycle refab as I wanted a special material to cover as well.

Ultimate Seat

I bought one 3 years ago, 2 trips to Alaska 11,000 miles each trip and one to California. All from Ohio. My wife loves it because she sits more up right. I'm 75 and she will be 72. She can ride 750 miles with our any problems. When I'm riding one up I can still ride 1,000 mile days. Best money I've spent on the bike. Good luck. Be safe and enjoy the ride. Larry

I bought one for my VTX a couple of months ago. They have a 14 day trial. I put 750 miles on it the first weekend and was able to stay on the bike a lot longer. I kept it and have not regretted it. Hope this helps.

I have an Ultimate on my Hannigan conversion Harley. I've had the Harley Sundowner, Corbin, and Mustang.
For the long haul, the Ultimate with backrest is by far the most comfortable for both of us. Mustang pillion was a brick in comparison.
The Ultimate with backrest does put me a little more forward than I'd like.

I've had the Ultimate King on my Valkyrie for 3 years. Absolutely love it.

Ultimate doesn't use plastic between the leather and the foam, seems to be a much cooler ride. I do use a rain cover if it's wet out.

We bought a Ultimate seat for our GL1500 trike five years ago.
Great seat, wife really likes it.
If this one ever wears out or if we get a different bike we will get another Ultimate seat.

Yes, I have one.
Right after I bought my new 06 Goldwing Trike, I didn't like my stock seat.
My 1500 sat better then the 06.
So I called Wing Soft and ordered a Midrider and also their passenger backrest(lets my wife sit more up right).
Sent my old seat and back rest down to them and they replace it with their new one.
We have over 40,000 miles on it and still feels good.
One word of caution, the stitching on the top of the seat is not waterproof. Order their rain cover for the seat and passenger backrest.
The Honda rain cover does not fit the new seat. At least mine didn't.
Found out the hard way, when I didn't put the trike cover on while we stopped to eat and it started raining out.

I have The KING. It moved me back 1 1/2 inches so I have more leg room. I have a CSC Cobra XL with
water boards and I can still put my feet flat on the ground. I have many days over 600 miles and one
day of 975 miles. I was still comfortable at the end of the day.

Ulitimate Seat

I got the Ultimate Big Boy seat for my VTX several years ago (4 ) and have never regretted the price as I feel it was worth every penny. I am 6' 1" 265 lbs and I can ride all day long with no pain. The stock seat was a killer after about 3 hours. Check out a couple different seats and get one that suits your style. There is not anything worse than a pain in the a--
Just my 2 cents. That and a dollar will get you a cup of coffee.

Put an Ultimate seat on my Can Am Spyder RT after the stock seat proved to be very uncomfortable on even shorter rides. Great improvement. Put an Russell Day-Long seat on my 2013 BMW K1600 trike as the original seat was also too soft/uncomfortable. I found the Day-Long to be more comfortable overall. Also consider the Ultimate is constructed on its own base pan while the Russell is built on your existing base pan, so you need to ship your seat to them for reconstruction.

ultimate

Has anyone got the ultimate king with a backrest I am , looking for a seat that will give me some comfort, I see it gives you 11/2 inches back, does this come out of the passenger seat, anyway if you have one on your wing how do you like it or problems with it

The passenger loses 3/4 of an inch because the passenger backrest is more upright.
I have ridden almost a thousand miles in a day and probably could have gone farther.
I have the Ultimate King with the backrest.
I also have the MBL wide PULL Backs that bring the handlebars back 3/4 of an inch.

Midrider

I just bought a gently used Ultimate Midrider for my 2001 Goldwing 1800 Trike and look forward to a more comfortable ride.
