The wife and I went for a decent length lunch ride today after the comfort lift install yesterday on the Freewheeler. The trike rode like a different machine very comfy it handled great and the ride was greatly improved. The steering feel was superb and was much lighter like going from a manual steering box in a car to a tight sporty power steering, loved it. :pepper:

I have to amit I had my reservations for a long time on changeing the geometry of the Freewheeler trike. I am so glad I did.

Great job Kevin at DK Customs for making such a sweet functional quality built easy to install upgrade for the Harley Trikes ThumbUpThumbUp

I also have reservations on what this kit will do to the neck bearings and the race where the bearings sit in over a period of time. From what I've read about the kit it sounds like a winner!!!Crusty61

crusty61,

I totaly understand your concerns and really never thought of what your thinking until now. My concerns were more with making the trike easier to tip. I do think the neck bearings and the race on these trikes are pretty beefy and tend to feel they will not be affected. The steering does lighten up on the trike. I quess the real question is does the lift put more load or less load or no more load on the neck bearing and race, I don't know. These lifts have been used on Tri Glides for a long time and I have not heard of any bearing or race issues yet. I can say the handling and ride improvement to the trike was way more than I inspected from the comfort lift and I am very pleased. So my worries were put to rest.

I would not be to concerned with neck bearings using a couple of inch lift kit. Back in the 80's ran a chopper with a 18" over springer front end. We never had bearing problems and that was a lot more force on the neck.:D

Does it make the trike easier to tip? Also, when you order one of these are not a DIY person, will the dealer install it?

Non issue with tipping. The trike handles and steers a lot better in my opinion. The Comfort Lift is very easy to install and only took me about 40 minutes to install but I have been working on Harley's for years. I would think any Harley shop or Harley mechanic would install them for you.The lift install is pretty straight forward and explained how to do very clearly in the instructions.

Carol, my dealer installed mine, I think it was about 1 hour labor as I don't have a lift or jack for the trike. If you do have them install, make them read the instructions a couple of times, it will go pretty easy then.

I installed a DK Comfort lift kit on my freewheeler last year. Took about 2 hours from the time I opened the box until I was riding but I took my time. Could do it again in an hour or less. It made my FW ride better and steer better and now it sits level. There is no issue with tipping. I am an aggressive rider in the curves and I have never had a problem with tipping. You will like it.

I installed my kit around3 weeks ago now. It's the best option I've installed on the FW so far. Very quality product and the ride and steering are greatly improved. the wife was so unhappy with the ride before the kit install we were thinking of selling, but after the install she loves the ride. We now go for long rides with no problems. Once again, great product and easy install after reading the instructions.
