Trike cover

Do any of you take a cover for your trike when touring, I think a cover gives the bike a bit of security when parked overnight, stops people from playing around with the controls or sitting on it.

Do you use a full cover or a half cover, a full cover takes up a lot of room in the trunk and can be a bit of an effort to put on the trike, not sure what to buy, your experiance will be of help..........

Thanks

I use a full cover when the trike is parked up anywhere, like you say it keeps prying eyes and sticky fingers off the controls and the odd thief from nicking your buttons etc. The best cover I had was a nelson rigg which was sold with my last trike by accident. Hope to get another one pretty soon.

I do not have a cover for mine, but have not had any problems with fingers that I know of.I would like to have a seat cover because mine has a cloth cover and every morning it is wet from due when we are traviling.

I got a Nelson-Rigg full cover for my Shadow. Use it alot; especially if I'm parking it outside overnight (hate drying a seat first thing in the AM). It'll really be used when I take off on my 4 Corners Trip in April/May.
You can reduce the bulk when it's stored on the trike by either (1) using a camping/kayaking compression bag or using bungee cords to "tighten up" the cover in its existing bag.

We have both, use the half cover when we just stop for shopping or something. Use the full cover at night when we leave the trike out, if we are camping..
Need to buy another half cover about worn this one out...:D

We use a full cover when we park overnight--the riggs nelson as mentioned before. Works great and we feel like it's more secure.

Overnight, if the trike is not under shelter, I use a Nelson-Rigg full cover.
When we stop, I use a full Touring Seat cover if the sun is hot or if it is raining. I also use just the seat cover if the trike is parked under shelter overnight.

Wife bought me a Nelson Rigg Trike cover for Christmas. Trike kit is supposed to be delivered to the dealer Tuesday. Can't wait. Tom

Re: Trike cover and How about VW Trikes?

VW Trikes need covers too. Does anyone know what us VW Trike riders should do for a cover? I checked out the Nelson-Rigg covers and they are for factory trike only.

Any assistance would be appreciated. I have been using a Goldwing cover but it only covered the front half of the trike. Still able to have access to items to monkey with.

Thanks in advance.

When we had The Blue Trike (a VW based TrikeShop Runabout) we used a car cover. (For a Miada, if I remember correctly.) It was water resistant
fabric as we bought it, and we sprayed it with tent waterproofing. I also have seen folks have them made out of rip-stop nylon tent fabric, had it made at a tent and awning place that custom sews.

BTW- we have a Dowco cover we use every time it is parked out doors at night. Keeps the dew, rain, animal "residue" and fingers off it.

I use a half cover at night. The full cover is just to big to handle and store. I have not had any trouble at all with people bothering my trike. I need to have a cover made for my trailer. It's a Classic Car Trailer of a 1940 Ford. People like to touch it!

I use a 1/2 cover. As you noted, it discourages kids and drunks from climbing on the vehicle. Neither the 1/2 or the full cover will stop a serious thief.
