Trailer Wiring a GL1800 Motor Trike

I recently bought a 2006 GW with Motor Trike body. For some reason MT did not put a pig tail plug for a trailer. They did however put on a hitch receiver. Now I want to put a pigtail on this thing but I am not sure were the plug in wires are or what they look like. Can you guys help me out? Oh, by the way what plug and play should I get? I appreciate any and all assistance.

It will depend on the trailer you have/buy. Motorcycle trailers generally come with a wiring harness for the bike.

Howdy Gene, Your issue is not uncommon if the person that originally converted did not specifically ask for a wire harness it did not get put on in most cases. Some installers went ahead and did it for future use but that is rare. The connectors you need to get to for plug and play use are toward the rear of the OEM trunk unless they have been moved. You'll have to remove the seat and see if the installer moved and tied up the rear wire bundles. If not you'll need to get you hands on a service manual with the wiring diagrams. You could remove the trunk to find the wires but that is a LOT of work.

If you need help shoot me a PM and I'll do what I can. There is more to this then meets the eye, believe me!!! :xszpv::xszpv:

Thanks Gold Rush

Thank you for the assist. I was talking to my cousin last night and he tells me he will be over this weekend and get me hooked up. He also has a MT so I guess he knows what he's talking about. If not I'll get back to you.

trailer harness

I had the same problem with my 2003 MT, I bought the Isolated Trailer Harness , part # B52-694 from Cycle Max, this is a plug and play. I then bought a 5 wire trailer harness from tractor supply to use on my trailer, all worked well together.
