Towing questions

Not sure yet if we'll be riding or towing the trike to Maggie Valley. I was wondering what folks think about towing with the front wheel up, and rears on the ground? Can I leave my Honda VTX in neutral, or do I have to disconnect the shaft? I have a Motortrike kit........

I know some folks have said in the past that towing like this puts undo stress on the head bearings. I sent the guy an email challenging him with that a short while ago. I can post his response when I get it if someone is interested.

Does anyone have any direct experience, or first hand knowledge about whether this is a good or bad way to go?

My tow vehicle will be a little over the limit with even a small utility trailer or converted car dolly. I will go this route if the tow bar above is a poor choice.

Personally, but never tried this.....I see no reason why You couldn't do it with the driveshaft removed. The VTX Trans has no way to lubricate without the engine running, but the Diff is basically just a Car arrangement. For Years we towed Vehicles with Wreckers by simply removing the driveshaft with no diff damage. Much over 100 miles with the shafts in and the Transmissions were toast on standards on most cars, less than 50 miles on automatics. Maybe Someone will chime in with actual "VTX Trike Towed This Way" experience.....:wtg:

No way, I'm gonna' think this would be more than head bearings could tolerate....!!!
