I've been getting a rattle in the lower end primary side. It started several months ago. Worse after riding Back of the Dragon. At first it was only when I start to engage the clutch and only for a split second, but now it seems to be worse.

Also, not so much at start up, more at shut down. Of course, my first thought was compensator. Took a ride to the dealer and had the service manager give a listen. "yep" he said, "compensator". I drop it off Friday. Normally I would change it myself, but I have two weeks left on my extended warranty so, no. Under warranty they put the SE compensator on which is ok I quess.

If it happens again and I change it myself, I will go to aftermarket. I have been hearing a squeal when I disengage and engage the clutch since day one. No one could tell me the cause. Real noticeable when it's good and hot. Let's see if it continues after the change.

What year, How many miles on it ?

My 2020 went around 12000 miles, 16 freewheeler around 10000. my 2010 Tri XXX was bad when I got it around 18000. I went aftermarket on all of them. But I beat the crap out of mine. :D

I've been hearing noises for a long time, but after the tail of the dragon and the back of the dragon it's become quite noticeable.

Which one did you replace it with? How well has it held up?

Thanks

MAN O WAR How it held up? I don't now I traded it. The dealer still has it on the show room floor, it will be two years end of October. They contacted me the end of June said they sold it but the ABS light was on & the reverse did not work & they had to take it back, because they cannot fix it. Asked me if I had problems with it? I said no Harley does.

I wonder what part of it they cannot fix.

Seems like that dealer needs to check the HOT LINE to the MoCo……:Coffee:

Its a Indian Dealer, they sent it to the Harley dealer up there in Manchester NH Harley told them it needs a new ECM to reprogram the abs & the reverse, I have no clue what there talking about, I have never heard of reverse needing programing. When I traded it they had there 3 TECHS go over it , the sales lady said it was the first trade in bike they found nothing wrong with it & they all rode it. I was just happy to be done with it.

I've been noticing a lot of rattling lately. Sounds like something loose down there. I think I'll head to the dealership next week to see what they think. I have 7 months left on my warranty.

Compensator

I’ve seen a couple go bad on two wheelers recently that would have been costly had the owners not had an ESP or extended warranty , one came apart and took out everything in the primary - clutch hub , compensator , stator . Only cost the guy $50.00 on HD ESP

Sir, Did you go w/Darkhorse? Looking into it myself. Thanks.
