This is nice

I really like the looks of this trike. One question, the lower filler under the exhaust how high from the pavement is it. I would be concerned about angled driveways. If I hit the lottery tonight, I will have to have an Indian Challenger trike in my stable.

It's a design I had in my mind and had sketched out a year or more before Hannigan's fiberglass shop fire. On a trip there I was hanging out with Hannigans in house designer and fiberglass guy, Randy. He was tasked with creating new molds to replace the ones that had been destroyed in the fire.

That is when I mentioned that in my opinion, Hannigan was overdue for a body redesign or two, since the other two trike companies already had new designs and what better time to update than now? Being the creative type that he is, he asked me what I had in mind so I went to an unused office and sketched out my design since I didn't have a copy with me.

I called it the "Bagger Trike". Randy liked it but was quick to point out that Dave Hanningan calls all the shots so far as design and he would probably not want to make such a stark change from the roundish lines of their current bodies. Besides, they had already committed to building new plugs for molds off of trike bodies they had on their showroom trikes.

So to my surprise, Randy called a while later to tell me they were going with my bagger trike design concept. The "Bagger" element was that the trike's fenders mimicked the profile of a Harley Bagger with stretched bags. That part was my contribution the profile and basic design, the rest of the details were all Randy's. I did ask for the opportunity to purchase the first production kit produced and this was it. I hand taped off all the graphics, picked the candy pearl colors and their painter spayed it.

Randy, took my basic concept and knocked it out of the part and It became such a hit that they basically built the same body for the Honda Goldwings. It was also a bit over the top and some folks said it was the ugliest thing they ever saw, so everyone has an opinion. I still think its a good, unique design. Hannnigan definately knocked it out of the park with their final design.

That rear lower filler panel is an option and you are correct, it sits very close to the pavement, but it seriously completes the look and stance of the trike, giving it a custom appearance. I only ran it on the trike occasionally because it would scrape if you weren't really careful.
