I got the rake kit finished this weekend, it made a new trike out of it.

Papa Zook was a great help getting the kit to me and answering a couple of questions I had before I started.

The install could have been done in an easy day if I hadn't had to replace the fork seals.

The trike took a little getting used to on the first ride, the rake kit made it a little twitchy in a gusty 30 mph cross wind.

Rode it about 60 miles yesterday and couldn't be more pleased with the result, all of the low speed wobble is gone and the twisty's are fun now instead of work.

Anybody out there that is on the fence about installing the kit from Papa Zook themselves the install is really straight forward.

Anybody with mechanical ability can do this job.

Looking forward to our "Old Fart Tour 2017" along the North Shore and up into Canada the end of May.

Hey Delbert...Adding a rake kit makes any trike a whole different machine doesn't it? Your shoulders will thank you at the end of a day of riding, especially if you are in the mountains. I only did it once, years ago as a Motor Trike dealer, back when they claimed you didnt need a rake kit on a Motor Trike and they did not even sell them back then.

It was our very first gathering in Maggie Valley on a GL1800 I had just converted and it wore me out for 3 days. That made a believer out of me, so much so that I started installing them on every trike I built and offered them for sale to forum members at a steep discount. Motor Trike still claims on their website that their kits dont need a rake kit. I completely disagree.

Zook, I concur with your opinion 100%. I have had a CSC conversion and am now into my 2nd Motor Trike. The CSC did not have a rake kit, I had it put on the first MT conversion after a couple thousand miles, I had the rake kit put on the third one at the same time it was converted so I have experience both ways. It is like adding power steering. Rake kits are a MUST for anyone on a trike. Anybody who is thinking about a conversion needs to just go ahead and crank that into the plan and the budget up front; it is an essential part of the conversion.

I totally agree, do the rake kit, well worth the money and time. You're back and shoulders will thank you. Without the rake kit mine would go into a tank slapper when you turned loose of the bars, that is all gone, not that I ride with no hands but I do like to set the cruise and just keep one on the throttle grip.
